I have found people talking about "buzzing" but I cannot locate a discussion about my problem. I purchased a used 2004 Odyssey RES and all audio sources play through both the front and rear speakers, but no audio at all through the wired headset jacks in the back or the wireless headsets. I also have another Odyssey with RES so I know I am operating it correctly and have checked the headsets with the other system and the headsets work fine... just no audio through either the wired or wireless with any audio source (dvd, cd, am/fm). I called my local Honda Dealer and they claim to have no information in the Honda data-base on this issue. If anyone has any info on this issue... please post!

When he first pulled the unit out you could hear popping and the sound going in and out and smell an electrical short. Come to find out... apparently the previous owner of the Odyssey children thought the CD slot was a great place for coin storage. Inside the radio chassis were 12 pennies, 2 nickles, and 5 dimes! One each of the pennies, nickles, and dimes, showed signs of heavy arcing. After there removal the radio head unit performed properly... but the audio to the headsets both wired and wireless is still dead. My guess would be that while the coins were ratteling around arcing they zapped whatever circuit on the main board controls audio output to the headsets. Does anyone happen to know if just that main board in the radio can be replaced.... ??? I would really hate to find out how much an entire new head unit would cost.

THeoretically, you could buy a 6 disk unit from an EX, but I expect the cost would be astromonical. Or, go after market. Still not cheap, and it looks hacked up. I would say that an ipod would be a much better option. There is an aux plug (headphone jack) already. Or if you want a slicker option, USA Spec makes an ipod integration kit (plugs into the aux jack) that lets you use the stereo controls to change songs. It also charges the ipod, saving wires. I have one and it works great. For the kids, those units are a commodity now, so buy whatever is on sale. The ones with detachable screens that can strap to a headrest are nice. Just be prepared to have to plug them in (since the batteries don't last that long). |

I have two DVDs stuck in my rear entertainment DVD player, any suggestions for getting them out?

Replying to: picklemen (May 19, 2009 12:19 am) I too have an 09 EXL without the Nav but want bluetooth. Have you used this tlcbluetooth you recommended. Am I to understand that there will be a black box that plugs into the aux jack and can be hidden somewhere and then that unit will connect to my phone? Is that the best way to get a bluetooth without nav? Thansk!

We are planning on buying a 2009 EXL with RES and NAV. I do not like the audio system but don't want to pay so much more for a touring for a sub+more powerful audio system. Is it easy to get the system replaced later? Who does a good job regarding that? What are the pros and cons of doing this. Thanks. |
