I have a 2000 Odyssey with an in dash 6 disc CD player. We are looking to trade it in for a 2003 LX or EX Odyssey. Can I switch the CD player from the 2000 Odyssey to 2003 Odyssey? Also can I do this switch if I get the RES DVD player? Finally am I correct in thinking that the DVD entertainment system can be added to the LX version? Thank you |

Hello All, I recently purchased Odyssey EX 2003 model. It comes with CD only (standard). I want to know if I can install dual din deck in place of CD. Following is link of two things which I'm looking at. 1) http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.jsp?c=1&b=g&catoid=-886- 4&qp=0376841154121&oid=50121&index=0 2) http://www.savinglots.com/lotprod.asp?item=DPXMP4030 I've second one in my Nissan and it works nice. thanks MJ |

| Has anybody purchased an aftermarket CD or CD/MP3 player for their post-'99 Odyssey LX yet (came standard with receiver/tape deck only)? If so, would you provide the brand, model no., and opinions? | |

You can add the Honda cassette deck (I think that is what you are asking) in the slot below the OEM radio/CD head unit. If you change the whole head, you loose the steering wheel mounted controls (which I like a lot...). Steve |

Steve, You are correct. After using steering wheel mounted controls I've started feeling so used to with it that I personally miss it on my Nissan. I was looking at Kenwood Dual Din player but at present I think I'll give priority to good DVD system in my car compared to deck. Any suggestions ? thanks MJ |

or 2004 models? Can we install my custom dual 9" flip LCD screen with DVD in new 2003/2004 Honda Odyssey? Has any one done it on their 2003 Oddy? The dealer price is so high. In addition, they only furnish single screen display with 7" screen for $1500. I would rather buy one 9" AudiVoX LCD w/DVD and another 15" LCD TV/Montitor for $2000 and get it installed for my new 2004 EX-L. Can I do this w/o voiding the warranty? Any suggestions? |

Q: We have a 1999 Odyssey EX with the CD player (no Cassette). Are there any replacement units that will play MP3 files? Would this replacement (if it exists) be easy for the DIYer or best left to the professionals? A: Take your pick: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-b8KUHAhh9zr/cgi-bin/ProdGroup.asp?c=- - 3&s=0&cc=01&g=62700 Personally, I like the Alpine CDA 9830. Will you be able to control the volume from your steering wheel? I don’t think so. If you are looking for a Honda factory radio (which is most likely made by Alpine*) that plays MP3s, I don’t think that there are any yet. * (From the FAQ section at Alpine) Is my Honda radio made by Alpine?. Alpine provides car audio, security and navigation systems for various car manufacturers such as Honda, Acura, BMW, Mercedes Benz and Jaguar as the original equipment manufacturer (O.E.M.). Please refer to your vehicles factory authorized dealer. Q: My factory radio/cd unit gives me an E-00 when playing the CD's. It works okay if the unit has not warmed up, but gives the error and won't play any CD's once it has been working for about 5 - 10 minutes. I'm looking to replace the unit with an after-market radio/cd with steering wheel remote controls. How difficult and what are the steps to removing and replacing the unit? The dealership wants $250 to remove it and send it in for analysis. Also a factory replacement is $500. Any information would help. Thanks. A: Just take it out yourself and put in a new Honda radio / CD player, will cost just $204 + shipping and maybe tax: http://www.handa-accessories.com/odyelec02.html Unless the problem isn't with the radio, of course... Can you do it yourself? Sure, here are the installation steps (assuming you have an ’03 , there are different instructions for the ’02 and before). http://www.handa-accessories.com/odyssey/03odycd.pdf Q: Does anybody have any ideas on an aftermarket radio that will use the existing remote wire harness? A: Just buy a new harness, won't cost more than $15 or so. With the new harness you will be plugging it into a plug coming from the van, no cutting / splicing of the van's wires. You will apparently lose the ability to change the volume from the steering wheel, though. Q: have a 2000 Odyssey with an in dash 6 disc CD player. A: Can it be moved to the 2003? Sure, why not? I believe that adding the DVD system to the LX is no problem, will cost you about $1,400 for the parts if you do the install yourself. If you go to a dealer you will be charged ~ $1,700 for the parts, plus labor. See the link above for an example of a place selling it for $1,400 (plus you can see the installation instructions there). |

| Does anyone know how to change the "screen saver" display on the Navigation screen? As it stands now, if I do not start the navigation system, the screen defaults to a star pattern and a clock. Is it possible to copy the DVD on a DVD burner and change the star file to some other photo? | |
