RES blank screen problem by daddyrea

I am on my second DVD player in my 2006 Odyssey. They both have this problem where if you watch a DVD and then turn off the car, sometimes when you turn it back on, the DVD plays the audio, but the DVD screen is black. My wife says she thinks it has something to do with if you switch to the radio and then go back to the DVD.

Has anyone had this trouble? If so, do you have a solution? My dealer has not been able to solve this yet.

Thanks!

I am in the exact same boat, I heard within 90 days, depending upon the dealer, some, that move more parts, will be sooner, some later.

We just got our 2006 Odyssey and I ran into the same "issue." Luckily, for me it was fixed with the push of a button. It is not all that intuitive (imo) but push the "Rear" button on your stereo console. That should activate the picture on your screen to coincide with the already playing audio.

Hope that helps.

Aftermarket DVD-- bad sound by dbens

I have a 05 Honda Odyssey, with a sliding sunroof. Just had a 15" Tview overhead DVD installed. Looks fine, but the sound coming out of the stereo speakers is distorted. Even if we find a "dead" radio station to pick up the DVD player, you can't understand what is being said in the movie. Installer is saying the only fix is to use IR headphones, and that doesn't sound right to me. Before I go back for a fight, I want to sound half way knowledgeable. On our factory stereo, we have the XM/AUX button, but do not have an XM radio. Can't the DVD sound be pushed through that button instead of searching for a dead radio station?? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

dbens:

How does the aftermarket dvd player you purchased deliver sound to the factory head unit? I would guess it's cabled in. If it is, the sound should be fantastic and you should not settle for the "use IR headphones" nonsense. Take it back and have the installer make it right. If it's not cabled in (if it's merely providing sound via an FM modulator that you tune to on the FM receiver of the headunit), then, frankly my dear, that's never going to work worth a craĥ.

Thanks for the update. I do not think it is cabled in. We asked about that and were told that the FM modulator was the only way to go. We'll insist on it being fixed correctly. Thanks for the tip. I really appreciate it.

Mode Restrictions with RES? by ncstewart

Just bought our 2008 EX-L R&N today and love it. Only problem is that we have this periodic "mode restriction" problem that doesn't let the rear play CD's or XM1/XM2 from the front -- I'm going to take it back next week to have this fixed/replaced but wondered if anyone else has experienced this and knows root cause and/or fix. Thanks!
