Replying to: user777 (Mar 10, 2008 12:15 pm) No doubt the cameras are handy (when they're not covered in ice/snow/rain or washed out by sunlight) but the sensors are a far better safety device. I have an EX-L and did the OEM sensors on the rear (fronts don't interest me much). Not hard at all....more $$ than some aftermarkets but they come painted to match which is good enough plus in my book. Even more so now that everyone is driving vehicles with larger blind-spots. Things you CAN'T see, which is why I say sonar is the safety feature of choice. The backup camera does provide some safety in that regard, but it's more of a luxury (i.e. getting the absolute most out of tight spaces). Have I really honestly 100% needed it? Nope, but the one time it goes off and a grandkid is standing behind the van for whatever reason.....   Of course there's always the opposite effect on some folks (like ABS....). Take a perfectly good safety feature and become less aware of your surroundings. Now when you're talking on the phone and drinking coffee you can not be bothered by actually checking your surroundings.....

Am I just too used to driving SUVs, with their high, wide, supple armrest/consoles, or are the driver/front passenger armrests on the Oddy (mine's an 08 touring) utterly deficient. Anyone done anything about it?

Replying to: pgpalmer (Apr 14, 2008 9:23 pm) no i'm sorry. must have been another poster.   if you know how to use a drill and can make a small hole behind the license plate, then the only tricky thing on the install is routing the wires over to one of the backup lamps which is powered when the vehicle is in reverse. that powers the camera.   the way you get your wires from the hole made behind the license plate over to the backup lamp assembly is to loosen the bottom of the hatch's plastic paneling.   then i found, going to home depot, some heavy duty velcro (the stuff that came with the unit didn't have good adhesive to hold up under the heat of summer). i applied some to the dash above my side view mirror adjustments (driver's dash lower left), and the other to the back of the display. then to power the display, i used a "Y" adapter plugged into the accessory outlet. I ran my wire down the left side of the driver dash, under and behind the dash garnish near the pedals, and over to the "Y" outlet. it looks fine.   you may find this funny, every now and then i'll be in the vicinity of a shop using a wireless camera, and my display will show me the inside of the store, sometimes with people in the isle. once i was behind another car whose backup camera was transmitting all the time... i saw what their camera was looking at.   for $100, it has been a good project / value.

I had a 2004 Odyssey and right in the middle on the top was a hole with a rubber plug so I had not problem.   I now have a 2008 Odyssey and do not see any unused holes in the firewall. Need to put some heavy guage wires from the battery for Ham Radio equipment. Anybody drill a hole through the firewall or find an unused hole?

It's expensive and so worth it.   there are many sites out there......for part prices, I like this site because it gives you all drop-down with prices for any car/model and all possible protected area.....www.xpel.com

Hi There,   Can anyone suggest a good Remote Starter and it's price and where can I get it.   I need it installed, so it will be really helpful to me during winters.   I am just looking for a Remote Starter, which can start my Van and I can use it to unlock doors. And ofcourse, I am looking for a cheaper one.   Thank you, Sunil.
