A reporter from a national publication is looking to talk to anyone who has considered buying a Chevrolet HHR in the last several weeks but ultimately decided against it. The reporter is especially interested in anyone who decided that there were so many HHRs now on the road that it’s lost some of its novelty. Please contact ctalati Thanks, Chintan Talati Edmunds Inc. Replying to: melissa (Jan 18, 2001 4:36 pm) We got our financing, got the insurance binder, and they decided to deliver the van to us, rather than wait for the upcoming weekend. My banker called them for the VIN, my insurance company called them to get the VIN and their FAX number so they could FAX the binder to them before they set out. I got a call four hours later from the salesman, telling me that the sales manager sold it to someone else. He seemed very uncomfortable speaking to me, and then had the nerve to ask if we wanted to deal on any of the other vehicles they had in stock! I declined, and told them that I had learned enough of their dealership and the practices they do to know I do not want to deal with them, nor would I recommend them to anyone else! While we were very disappointed in not getting that van, we found one two months later at our local Cheverolet dealership that was almost identical. We ended up saving around $1,500 using Edmund's tips. The information that Edmund's provided was helpful, and very necessary in today's car market. By following their advice, I was able to save money, and negotiate properly for my vehicle. In the process, I learned another valuable lesson in ethics, and dealing with car salepeople! |

Replying to: john500 (Dec 23, 2006 7:58 am) Even that doesn't guarantee anything. We had an 03 Dodge Ram 3500 sold out from under us back in July. We had financing approved and a $500 deposit on the truck. Just had to get down to pick it up since it was 300 miles away. Didn't find out about it being sold until we got there. So deposits really mean nothing when it comes right down to it. |

Years ago I used a search engine on the Edmunds site to choose a car. By specifying horsepower, transmission, other option sI was able to determine that the Maxima was the best car for me. Later on I used the same search engine to isolate my pathfinder from other SUVs. Anyone know if a search engine like this -- one that lets you specify equipment, HP, price, etc -- still exists? thanks |
