It usually means the throttle position sensor is dinked, if there are no wiring or connector problems. Here's how to test and replace it:

Same year S-10, same problem on the Converter and the recline handle. Just happened. A friend told me to change the converter myself. Just bolts on.
I also have a driver side door leak probably due to a warped hinge. I;m just glad the thing runs O.K.

abs comes on when shouldn't. by majorkikass
Aug 11, 2005 (6:01 pm)
Someone else posted a message complaining of a similar problem but I haven't seen a response yet so I thought I'd post my own. My truck ( '97 S10 2wd,2.2L ) is new to me with 103,000 miles on it. Everything is perfect on it except that when I decelerate everything is normal until just before the stop (roughly 5mph), when the abs activates. The pedal vibrates and the pump makes its normal audible noise. There is no brake light on. Quality of brake doesn't seem to be reduced, but it is awfully annoying. It was suggested to me that the abs ecu could be bad, but I have not had it scanned as of yet. I don't like wasting money on things so I was wondering if anyone had any advise. Also, I have personally inspected and replaced all brakes, including the inspection of speed sensors and exciter rings.

Please Help,
majorkikass

99 S-10 Cutting Off by chevyman3
Aug 12, 2005 (1:19 pm)
I just bought my 99 S-10 2.2 Liter about a year and a half ago. It has been a great truck and looks great. This is the first real problem I have had with it. For some reason, when I go down the road it wants to cut-off on me. It will start to cut off but stay cranked and just kind of sputter and all the lights on my dash will cut on. Then, sometimes it will cut off, but I can recrank it while I am still moving, but once again all my dash lights will cut on and either my ABS light or Engine light will stay on. Now, just this week, it cut off on me at a red-light and wouldn't crank back up, it took me about 10 minutes of fiddling with the clutch and ignition and it finally cut back on. It hasn't done that again but has still been acting like it wants to cut off at times. Also, I want to note that, in between doing this it will run great. I can't figure it out, it will cut-off while I'm on the gas, or while I'm applying the brakes. Has anyone else had this problem or has an idea what is wrong?

Need help code P0410 by tlseipel
Aug 12, 2005 (7:09 pm)
I have a 2001 S10 2.2L AT that almost died today. It started sputtering and bogging down, and no matter how hard you pushed the gas pedal, it would barely move. My first thought was it lost spark, but the code is coming up P0410, which suggests water in the air filter, from what I can gather. All the code manual says is secondary air injection system malfunction. The second part to the problem is at the same time my catalytic converter has gone bad I am pretty sure, as it smells like rotten eggs. If anyone has any insight PLEASE HELP!!!!
