Agreed!I had a 96 Silverado that I put 320,000 miles on and replaced the tranny at 180,000. Only major work that truck ever needed. I loved that truck and am now the proud owner of a 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 Z71. It now has 138,000 miles on it and needs U-joints. Outside of that, this truck has been the cause of my 'dopey smile' I walk around with. Espescially when I hear these 'ford' guys griping about replacing entire brake assemblies, water pumps and trannys at 80,000 miles. I won't even start on Dodge. Yes, Gentlmen! We are the intelligent ones!

I have an '01 Tahoe 4x4 5.3L and had a FM 40 Delta series put on. I wanted the 50 series but they were out of stock and installer said the 40 with Delta flow would be better for me as I didnt want 'redneck' loud. I left the stock tail pipe. Let me tell you, this thing is loud when you hit the pedal. Very deep tone at idle. There is noticible resonance in the cab but not bad..most noticible in the 1800rpm range. All in all I am happy with the muffler. No gas mileage improvement but can feel more power in the midrange. Iwouldnt go with the reg FM40. My friend put duals on his '02 Ford 5.4L and he had it removed and replaced with the Delta flow. Far too much resonance in the cab. Good luck!

Hey all, I just bought a lifted 2000 Silverado 6.0L. I am not sure if it is a 2500 or a 2500HD. The dealer told me HD but I cant confirm it anywhere. Wont it have the HD on the door next to the 2500 or did they not do that in 2000? Who knows the difference between the 2?
I have numerous other questions about this thing too. Someone let me know if you own one.

The HDs came out for the 2001 model yr. On the door jamb is the GWR 8600? If so then it is a non HD the HD are 9200

Cool, appreciate that.
OK, its says 8600. So then we can assume it is nonHD? What are the main differences between the two?
Basically I am trying to figure out what that factory specs are (diff ratio, etc). It has a FABTECH lift kit on it and I need to know what I have to be able to figure out what I need. Thanks.

I have purchased flowmaster super 40 series mufflers and i was not pleased at all, you pay 60 dollars a piece for turbo mufflers. If you have a new truck with cats the only way to go is straight pipes with stainless 3.5 inch tips. On my 1996 vortec 350 it sounds awesome under acceleration but when i let off the gas it is not loud at all and also when going down the highway at 1750 RPMS it can barley be heard inside the cab. I would encourage you to put that on you 5.3 youll be pleased, save some money and turn some heads.

When are you "plowheads" having your "snow & sell" in Poughkeepsie this year ?
Sep 17, 2005 (8:14 pm)
The guy ain't gonna throw the shindig this year in Poughkeepsie.
There are plans in the works and set Oct. dates. for a BBQ and
snow equipment displays.
One is gonna be the 15th Rochester and another to follow 22nd in Albany.
(Not sure of the dates right now cuz I am in NJ and calender is home))
Gonna be Magic Salt for sale too and I need my supply!...........
The other guys wanna throw a meet and greet only in Poughkeepsie
after that.......................
For sure I'm gonna hit the Rochester deal!
RCS equipment ( mfrs. of those giant snow pusher blades you see in parking lots) is the sponsor of that one.
Will keep ya posted.................
#5209 of 5688 H Pipe Or X Pipe?
by 96vortec

Has anyone installed an X pipe Or H pipe on their chevy or gmc truck? I didnt think this was possible because of the gas tank being so large and the tail pipes must go side by side on the passenger side. If anyone has done this please let me know how. Thanks
#5210 of 5688 tweet noise

we recently purchased a 2005, 2500HD Silverado regular cab, we have a tweet noise, from time to time, sometimes when we put on the brake, sometime when we are just driving, has anyone else experienced this noise, we have told the dealer about it they greased the brake peddel and we didn't hear it for awhile and they said"when it does it bring it in " well we are usually not in town when it has happened.
