False advertising? Please explain this to me. GM web site X-cab Z-71 MSRP = $32,485.00, Employee price = $24,656.58, Discount = $7,828.42 (Thats 76% of MSRP) Edmunds claims the same truck has an MSRP of (the same ) $32,485.00 and an "invoice" of $28,531.00 What kind of a deal were you getting before the Employee price promo that would get you a price that was $3,874.42 BELOW invoice? Not saying it is impossible to buy a new truck AT invoice then get a $5K rebate. I am sure a few have gotten this good of a deal - but most people will do better with the so called employee discount. Can you show me some facts to back up all of the hot air you are blowing? |

Replying to: z71bill (Jun 16, 2005 8:00 am) the "employee" price you quote is correct. when you buy a truck though, the only price that really means anything is selling price after rebates. i believe total rebates on a silverado was $6000 one month ago. if you would have bought the truck you quote in your post at invoice, less holdback, less rebates, the approximate buying price would be $21500. that price might take some shopping, but it would be completely do-able. the "employee" price you're quoting here includes all current rebates. chevrolet slashed them the day they went to "employee" pricing. F**d, on the other hand, rebates at $5000 and hasnt changed it. sure, F**d doesnt offer employee pricing, but with a little shopping, you can get within about $500 of it, and still get full rebates. now that i've backed up my "hot air", you tell me which company are the scam artists. please. respond. i beg of you. |

Replying to: z71bill (Jun 16, 2005 8:00 am) in effect, the employee price on a silverado went up by 3-4 thousand for this promotion, depending on the exact model, with similar price changes on all other models. compared to msrp, it isnt bad. compared to what you could actually buy one for, it stinks. i defy you to name one real gm employee who actually buys a car this month from gm. they'll wait until the employee price goes back to what it was when the rebates go back up....freeking rip off. |

You say - just go find one "at invoice, less holdback, less rebates" when the rebates are $6,000. The problem is - when rebates get much over $3K the number of dealers willing to offer trucks at invoice goes down (the number willing to also give up holdback would be even less) - like I said - it is possible to find a dealer willing to sell a truck for this price - but not that easy. That would be 66% of MSRP - What % of the vehicles buyers do you think pay 66% or less of MSRP - for a new vehicle? I am sure someone - somewhere will claim to have gotten this deal (invoice -holdback-$6K rebate) plus 0 % interest for 120 months - and of course the extended warranty for 25 years & 1,000,000 miles plus oil changes and tires for as long as they own it - all thrown in for free. That is possible. Maybe you should call the FTC - if GM is - like you claim - using false advertising then you could bring them down. |
