o2 snsors

i found out that o2 sensors only have a life span of about 100km and then they should be replaced i was wondering if anybody out there with the 4.8 has replaced they're o2 sensors both upstream and downstream and noticed any mpg gains or overall improvement because i did it to my wifes car and got about 40-45km more per tank with no change in how it was driven or how much.I contacted my dealer and they said if it isn't showing a service engine light don't bother but it would only make sense that if you got a sensor that controls your air to fuel ratio and is exposed to dirty exhaust fumes and unburnt fuel it would only be a matter of time before they stop performing at they're optimum levels but may not set off the engine light what are your guy's thoughts out there?

Did anyone know that you can put your key in the igntion and turn the your silverado on, then turn it to the OFF position and hold the resest button for your odometer for 4 seconds and it will tell how many hours your trucks engine has been on!!!

Mine works without turning the key at all as do all I'm aware of. With truck not running just push in and hold odometer reset button until the hours display.Nice feature that GM added in the redisign of these turcks back in 99.

Actually I was only referring to way the cargo lamp works. I see a lot of Fords with the cargo lamp on just because the interior lights are on or when because they open the door.Apparently it's tied in to the dome light.  Wouldn't be my choice.

Walmart offers a $15 adaptor plate to get the radio to fit in the dash, circuit city offers wiring harness adaptors, a $16 one that I got that gets rid of the chime and the radio shutting off when you open the door, and a $90 one that keeps the factory options. Auto zone offers a $14 antenna adaptor. You have to solder the wires of the harness adaptor to the radio wire harness. Its a very simple installation. The dash just pops off(be careful though, and put the steering wheel n the lowest position possible. It will give you the most problems) and you take the radio out with a 7mm socket. It will be very hard to disconnect the stock radio, as clearance seems to be an issue. I ended up haveing to uses a couple screwdrivers to get the plug off the back. All in all, though, it was an easy installation. Good luck

this is the worst thing you can say about a ford truck?.....they shouldn't have improved it? actually, the last generation of fords trades at or very near that of chevrolet and gmc, and certainly better than dodge or nissan. gm will redesign their trucks for 2007. a few years too late. they have been surpassed in engineering and quality by ford, dodge, and nissan. but hey, you can now purchase one at the "employee price"....(of course, this is after chevrolet cut their rebates in half.) i wonder how many real gm employees are buying cars this month at their much inflated employee price. man, do i ever hope this company goes bankrupt.

Why hope a company (any company) goes out of business? The way I look at it - even if you don't want a GM vehicle - the lower prices they are offering are forcing everyone else to also lower (or not raise) prices.

I have a 2000 Silverado with 64000+ miles. I live in the dusty deserts of Arizona. Ya think I need to replace that cabin filter, maybe? I checked with my Goodyear Gemini guys and they want over $30 for the filter and $42 for their labor. After taxes, I get some change back from an $80 dollar bill. I checked online and a Bosch filter will set me back only $18.
It took you about half an hour to replace yours? After dropping the glove box, is it still a bit of a chore to access the filter? Is this covered in a Chilton's manual?

lowering prices is great. false advertising is not. if i (or anyone else) had bought a chevy before their "price reduction", it would have cost me less than it does now due to the rebate difference. misleading and false advertisements may sell a car or truck today, but eventually you're gonna pay for this practice. i would pull for the bankruptcy of any company that tried to pull a fast one like this.
