#1831 of 5688 Considering purchasing a GMC Sierra 1500 Reg. Cab by davecrook1

Apr 02, 2002 (10:44 am)

The maintenance costs on my '95 F-150 Ext. Cab are "eating me alive"after only 87000 miles of tender loving care and,as a result,I'm looking for a replacement. My number one priority is a vehicle that will last 100,000 miles with no MAJOR repairs (i.e. transmisson, exhaust, alternator, water pump,etc.). I'm considering a Sierra 1500 Reg. Cab Short Bed because we bought a 2001 Yukon and it has been acceptable in terms of build quality (longevity remains to be seen as it only has 30000 miles.)I have two questions: 1)Is there ANY room behind the seats of a Reg. Cab for even a snowshovel? 2)How well is this series truck holding up for those of you approaching 100,000 miles? Don't want to spring for another extended cab as I rarely ,if ever, use that extra space.

#1832 of 5688 Steering Clunk TSB by lauriet1

Apr 02, 2002 (12:06 pm)

Mine goes in Thursday for this:

#00-02-35-003A Clunking Noise Under Hood and can be felt in the Steering Wheel (Lubricate Intermediate Steering Shaft Assembly)

Condition: Some customers may comment on a clunk type noise coming from under the hood that also can be felt in the steering wheel. These conditions may be more noticeable when turning at low speeds on rough road surfaces.

Correction

Important
DO NOT REPLACE THE FOLLOWING INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT P/NS

26085548
26049343
26083324
26088325

Remove the intermediate shaft from the vehicle and lubricate the intermediate shaft with a Steering Column Intermediate Shaft Lubrication Kit, P/N 26098419

Thanks to Opatience on the Maintenence and Repair, Technical Service Bulleting Forum for providing me with this info last week and the ability to pass it on to someone else.

Good luck obiggs!

I have a 99 and a 2000 Silverado (same as Sierra except for badges) and I find enough room behind the seats of a Reg Cab for a jacket, tools, snowshovel, etc.

#1834 of 5688 Supercrew for 1500 Silverado? by califjohn

Apr 02, 2002 (4:14 pm)

Does anyone know if GM is considering something similar to ford's F-150 Super Crew for 2003 in the 1500 range? Yes they have the Avalanche, but it just doesn't appeal to me. I would love to see a GM Supercrew with a factory blown 5.3 to match that slick Harley Davidson version from ford. Throw in the new four wheel steering and it would be hard to beat.

I knew of the other TSB but did not have the # or description, it had been posted here before. Just goes to show the worth of this forum. Mine now displays the rubbing noise which will be addressed next time I take it in for warranty work, I'm not happy with the way the anti-lock rear brakes are working.

#1840 of 5688 GMC 1500 HD ? by thevoerdings

Apr 05, 2002 (6:41 pm)

I am considering a 1500 HD Crew Cab. they seem to be rare on the lots. I am told the last day to order 2002s is 4/08. Does anyone know when you can order 2003s, and are their any big changes? I am told the Chev is going with the Avalanch front end, does anyone know? Also, does anyone have any gas milage experience with the 6 liter? Thank you in advance for any info you can provide.
