Thanks for the triple towing warning. I also have a 7,000# trailer and a 3,000# boat, and it stretches over 60 feet. I have set up the triple twice and can report that power is not an issue, nor is speed on hills. Gas mileage is 8-9 mpg which is better than two trips. Do you have a diagnosis on your knock? Rod? Octane? Something else? |

I haven't taken my truck to the dealer yet so it is only my guess, but I know it has a knock. Whether it is the piston or rods, I duno, but last night after the truck had sat for quite some time and I fired it up, my wife was able to hear it. At first she was just hearing the whine of the tranny, then I told her do you hear what sounds like a horse walking briskly on concrete...she heard it then! It is not that loud, but you can hear it in the cab with the doors closed and radio off. I am going to switch to Mobile 1 synthetic when I hit 3,000 miles and see if I can have the same luck as others at quieting this knock down a bit.. On a more un-depressing note, it is nice to hear about the power of the truck towing both a 5er and boat. I currently have a boat, right around 3,000 lbs and have been trying to figure out whether to get a slide in camper or 5er and (cringe) tow the boat behind it.... Bob |

GMC online assistance was baffled, has no links to GMC builders/engineers. Said to ask dealer, dealer said ask GMC! I'm running as recommended on the door, even though those pressure seem way too high, but that what the book says to run for cold pressure. Engine knock is becoming more noticable on start up. Anyone need a set of front Husky liner front mats (L&R black) for an ext cab 2001 GMC/Chevy? email me: omcniff |

I just took delivery of my 3500HD/8.1/Allison. It is a really great truck and I am enjoying the heck out of it. However, it rained heavily today and I noticed the overhead cubby was filled with water. I pulled the cubby and found that all of the headliner area was totally dry, so the rain must have dripped in one of the screw holes for the running lights on the roof. Anyone else have similar problems, and if so, what did you do about it? Bill Ritchie billnsandi |

Pull the screw out, glop some silicone in the hole, and put the screw back in. Peter |

| DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY SERIOUS RESERVATIONS THAT WOULD SWAY THEM TO THE FORD DIESEL UNIT RATHER THAN THE GM UNITS? | |
