lonestarsled-

You don't know what you're missing!! Besides, you can now order on line via credit card!

I've been a Zainoholic since the summer of 1998. It has been applied to both cars that I have owned since then- Christine, the "award winning" 1999 Chrysler 300M and my current 2001 Acura CL-S. The shine can be seen in pics I've taken over the years by clicking on my name above.

I guess there are other products that you THINK are just as good or shine just as well or last as long as what you're using now, but it "ain't" so.

Enough about Z before I get yelled at. Go to the Zaino topic in TH to learn/read more.

#24015 of 26385 Talk About Lurking... by oreoke

Wow, good to see all you old-time M'ers are still on! Although I was shopping seriously for an M back in '99 - '00 I never did buy a new car. I bought a Harley and got married and bought a HOUSE--but no new car. Since you're still here and posting I'll take that as a sign that the 300M (and N, I imagine) are still performing well for you?

#24016 of 26385 Minor Annoying Problems by toms99

Well, it's been a long time since I last checked this board! Howdy, friends!

My 99 just turned 52K and I have a couple of minor problems that I do not see (specifically) on the all-data TSB site, and I though I'd check in here with the experts before I headed to the dealer:

1) center speaker (the one up by the alarm led) is crackling like crazy (even at low volume levels). There is a TSB about "buzzing speakers" in general, but I have replaced all but that front center speaker. How the heck do I even get to it to replace it?

2) there is a 2 inch long vertical crack in the dash right above the glove box. This is the pass side airbag area. I'm assuming the crack is due to sun exposure and or just age (car is 5 years old.) I noticed a TSB on the driver's side trim, but did not see any for the pass side. Is this common? Is there a vinyl repair kit that is decent?

3) The heater/ac fan/blower makes a "fluttering" noise when it is first turned on. The noise goes away after about 10-15 minutes. I'm wondering if the fan/blower motor is on it's way out??

4)There is a "squeeky" noise when I turn the steering wheel. Does not appear to be suspension related...more like it is coming from the steering column itself. Clockspring, maybe??

Thanks for any and all help you guys can provide!

I have a 2003 Special and have an annoying and loud wind-related whistling between 40-50 mph. My dealer cannot seem to find it. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

They made a piece to block them off... So the air from them just comes out the side and rear a little more...

Got a roadtrip coming up in a week so needed to replace the worn Goodyear Eagles on my 2000 300M. Only 26k miles, but I haven't been able to rotate them for the last 13k due to pulling problems and the front shoulders were getting bald.

I went with Toyo Proxes TPT 225/55-VR17s. They're all season and come with a 65k mile treadlife warranty and full road hazard, rotating, etc from our local Les Schwab chain. The tread pattern is similar to the Michelin Pilot Sport AS. Not cheap at $760 for the set so I hope this isn't a bonehead move. I could have gone to Costco and gotten the Michelins for about $60 more but that's a half-hour drive away. Around here, you're never far from a Les Schwab.

Haven't driven much on them yet, but they are quieter than the Eagles. They also don't want to spin when accelerating from a stop into a turn like the old tires had started to do.

Their products rock! Been using them for two years on my bright silver 2k. I have a local distributor to keep me supplied.

#24022 of 26385 toms99...dash crack... by intrepidspirit

I posted 2 or 3 weeks ago on this.

My 2000 and my wife's 2003 both had slits (very clean, like a knife cut) in the passenger side dash. The 2000 dash pad was replaced under warranty. They tried to repair the 2001 pad, but it was not acceptable and got uglier by the week. They have since agreed to replace it and it is on order.

Here's the really bad news -- they told me it cost $1,200 to relace the pad. Apparently it's a full day's labor as they had to disassemble down to the fire wall.

Out of warranty, I guess I would try to mend it, but I wouldn't expect much as the "professional" mending job actually made it worse as the the dash pad buckled upward over a few weeks.

Sorry I don't have better news for you!

I was getting my 99 M serviced and test drove a 2002 Special just for kicks. It's probably not the same issue you are experincing, but it had an annoying whistle as well at moderate speeds. The salesman and I determined it was coming from the air conditioning unit. Went away when we turned it off. Needless to say, even if I was serious about buying a Special, I wouldn't have bought that one (even with the 6K discount they were offering)
