Hi Ho Silver, away! by brucelinc

I sold my silver Lincoln LS today. It was a 4/99 build and I have had it since May, 1999. In the 10 years and 112,000 miles, I replaced the COPs and the driver's side heat element. Other than that, routine maintenance has been my only expense.

Prior to the LS, I had a '94 V8 T-bird which gave me 127,000 miles of service with no repairs at all so the LS wasn't quite as trouble-free. However, what does impress me about the LS was that it was just as tight, quiet, and solid as the day I bought it - not a rattle, squeak, or shudder. The doors still shut with a satisfying "thuck." While deciding on a replacement vehicle, I test drove several new cars that were less impressive.

I paid $500 over invoice for the LS which, at that time, I thought was a steal. Obviously, we know that later on there were massive incentives and discounts. I sold the car for $6000 which I think was decent for both me and the buyer. I had kept the car pristine.

Old "Silver" will be a tough act to follow. I will miss him.

If you got $6000 for a 2000 LS with 112K you did pretty good. I've had my LS for a year and it's been trouble free but there are a few rattles, especially in winter on the Wisconsin frost-heaved roads.

What are you replacing it with?

Yes, I got more for the car than I expected. For better or worse, I sold it to a co-worker for his daughter. We have known each other for years and he knows I am fussy with cars. One thing that has kept my LS in top shape is that I rarely drove it during our Minnesota winters. Most of the miles were accumulated earlier in its life when I used it for business travel. Even then, I often drove my 4 X 4 Ranger during the winters. I don't recall the LS ever being exposed to road salt.

I have had a 2010 MKS ecoboost on order since May. It should be here within the next couple of weeks, I hope.

"Bruce", I would also say that you did quite well, selling your LS for $6000. I also sold my 2000 LS a couple of months ago. Mine had 60,000 miles, however it had been through 9 western New York winters, and as much as I washed it, rust was starting to show up, hence the reason for the sale. I got only $5000 for it.

It was a good, fun car. A few "first year" issues, but a fun car to drive nontheless. We will miss it.

I think I got $7K for mine almost 4 years ago with 65K. Of course the entire drivers side needed to be repainted due to too many bicycle dents and failed touch up attempts.

The dealer was talking around $3,500 - $4,000 as a trade - that was after I got his best price on the new car.

I thought 6 bills was a load for it but after my co-worker and his daughter drove it, he said, "I can't understand why you are replacing this car - it looks and runs like new." He drives a late model Lucerne. The daughter is happy as a pig in mud, too.

I just hope they don't run into big repairs soon - like cooling fans, transmission issues, window regulators, sway bar bushings, etc. Fortunately, I was able to avoid all of that......

I just purchased my new 02 LS and I love the ride, but I want to make a few modifications. Do anyone have a clue where can I find chrome door handles and the lincoln emblem for the side vender? I would greatly appreciate the feedback!

Why would you want to replace the clean looking door handles with pimp looking chrome handles?

This post is ancient but I need help! If I send you a pic of the boards can you help identify the power supply board? I will make sure to document the repair so others can do the same. Thank you.
