Ok, this is the second time I will try to write this, the first one got deleted before I could post. 3300 miles on my Envoy No oil problems as previously mentioned Gas mileage way better than at first Second recall-console-fixed-no problems Luggage rack latch-wouldn't stay latched, they replaced the whole bar.-Very good, as this was causing major rattling on top and was driving me bananas! I know that the rubber molding issue was addressed in earlier posts, however, I think everyone should really check around your windows!! I blew this off and went to take my kids to camp, and low and behold, the rubber molding on top of the windshield was never secured! We drove 150 miles |

| There's been several posts about owners attempting to purchase running board for their 2002 Envoy. I just came from my dealer's parts counter. He gave me the number 12497681 ($429 retail) for the Envoy boards. I have no assurances that they are factory original nor if mounting hardware is included in the kit, and having been burned by the 12497885 misfit, I hesitate to order blindly again. It occurs to me that there must be several Envoy owners that read this forum that have new Envoys with factory installed running boards. Please, someone take a flashlight and read the number stamped on the bottom of the board (GM almost always stamps their parts), and post the number for those of us in need. Thanks. | |

At 2500 miles, my Envoy is great. Ride is excellant and comfort is supreme. Gas milage has been 17 city and 20 on highway, but there were some mixture on those numbers. Only one tiny grip and that is the roof rack makes a little whistling noise at 60+ speeds. In town SUV is quite as a mouse. Lots of lookers as I go down the road, but best of all, no rattles, no breakdowns, nothing gone wrong yet. Nice job GM Swithing subject - Read MotorTrends Sept 2001 issue - compared 8 SUV's, Trucks, and HyBrids. While all had + & -, GM had equal or better scores than Exployer in every category and in fact here is the break down of how the Grades (A,B,C,D,F) of all the vehicles break down into 4 and 12 point scales. 1 Escalade 43.9 121 2 Envoy 43.0 117 3 Avalanche 42.5 114 4 Sequia 41.4 112 5 Frontier 39.9 108 6 Exployer 38.5 104 7 Liberty 38.3 103 8 Silverado HD 31.2 84 Again, I realize every vehicle has + & -'s, but overall Envoy #2 just behind the Cadillac Escalade and ahead of Toyata's Sequia #4 and way ahead of the Ford Exployer, which just beat out the Jeep Liberty for 6th place. Obviously I am happy with my Envoy. Nice comparison by MotorTrend. |

| Sounds like vapor lock. Common in warmer temperatures, turning the feed nozzle upside down probably just breaks the seal of the vapor recover system enough to allow the gas to flow (and circumvent it's purpose). | |

jw4gm: I just crawled around on my garage floor, flashlight in hand, for 15 minutes. I could not find any set of numbers stamped or on a label anywhere on the running boards or the three metal brackets on each side. I will keep looking and post if I find any sort of part number. |

| Has anyone had problems with their air conditioner blowing warm air after the Trailblazer is stopped? After the TB is moving again sometimes it will begin to blow cool air. I have tried everything to make it work properly with the Mode/Auto control. No luck. Any suggestions? Its going to the dealer next week for repairs. I have had many problems with my TB LTZ, wouldn't recommend anyone buying one. Looks like the Lemon law is in my future. | |

Pewter SLE 4WD Envoy... I've had it since May 23rd, I'm now at 7500 miles. The only thing I've brought it back for is the door scratch guard trim on the driver's side. The rear door trim was mounted too far forward, and was gouged by the driver's door when I opened them both simultaneously. Replaced under warranty, without a question. Even if GM can't put trim on worth a damn, the vehicle itself is well worth minor quabbles. No oil problems. I run synthetic, the engine is smooth as silk, and the transmission has no problems with gear searching, as some reported here. I don't like the way the gearshift feels when you shift it into the 3/2/1 ranges (too much play, and too much pressure required; it's easy to hit 1 while trying to shift to 2), but this is a minor complaint. Still, a more crisp-feeling shifter would be nice. I don't like the location of the rear window wiper control, but on a vehicle of this size, the rear window shouldn't matter much; the side mirrors are fine 99.5% of the time. The steering feels too loose for me, I like more feedback. Still, understeer is preferable. I'm a small guy (5'6"), and the seat feels too large for me unless I slump. The lumbar support is a compromise for me, I can never find the exact right setting for me. Still, I feel this is more of an issue regarding my size than anything else; the seats are quite comfortable for the duration of my 6/7 hour drives. The pivoting headrest is a very nice feature. The cloth on the seats is very nice, grabby without being rough. The boot covering the parking brake lever came loose from the floor with a slight tug. Somewhat annoying, and I'm currently arguing with my dealer about how it should be attached. The air conditioning/climate controls are wonderful; the AC cools down within a minute of starting the vehicle, and the air pressure on the center vents is wonderful (I like a brisk, cold breeze in my face while driving). The outside vents are weaker than I'd like, but that's probably from the vents on the side of the console to defrost the window (which leech from the main vents). My family loves the rear controls and dual zone system. the extravagant number of power points is a nice touch. The vehicle is quiet enough at highway speeds to sleep in. I've had nary an odd noise (beyond the wheel weights being bumped at full turns, as mentioned previously), and the ride is as smooth as one could wish for in a ladder frame truck. The window tinting on the front side windows could be darker. The storage compartment under the main rear area is very nice; perfect for storing cleaning supplies. The rear center seat is hellishly uncomfortable for a reasonably-sized adult to ride in for ANY length of time. Alot of that problem could be solved by moving the seatbelt anchor to the right, but with the split seat arrangement, that's not possible. The stereo system is a major peeve of mine. It's too goddamned bassy; I have to turn the bass almost all the way down to get any appreciable sound quality. It's obviously marketed to the, um, 'hip hop' crowd that values a back massage over decent reproduction of sound. The speakers are coming out ASAP. Are there any other speakers in this vehicle besides the door speakers? (I have the base sound system, btw) Beyond the exterior trim, the fit and finish is the best I've seen for any GM vehicle I've ever owned. The interior is fantastically done, IMHO. The carpetting feels good on bare feet (a first for any vehicle I've owned). Are dual trip odometers too much to ask for? Even the Nissan XTerra I test drove had them. On the whole, I would go through the pain-in-the-ass buying process all over again in an instant. GM has scored a knockout blow in this vehicle, IMHO. I hope to drive this vehicle until the wheels fall off, and I'll enjoy every mile of it. |

All car 4 and 5 cylinder engines are inline designs. There's nothing new about this technology. Inline designs are not necessarily more reliable either. Drew Host Vans, SUVs, and Aftermarket & Accessories message boards |

I have experienced the same problem with my 2002 Envoy. Just make sure you press the button to turn on the Air Circulation within the vehicle. It is the button to the left of the AC OFF button. You will get cooler air and a constant air flow. The button is not on by default, you have to press it each time you start your vehicle. By default, you get air from outside, which the flow increases as your speed increases. Billy |

"The window tinting on the front side windows could be darker." This is easily remedied by going to a local tint shop and asking them to tint the front driver and passenger windows to match... A local shop charged me $60, which seemed a bit much when the whole car would have been $150.. but the end result looks very nice. I've also noticed that the factory tinting is not as dark as it was on my Jeep Grand Cherokee and also there's very little heat rejection afforded by the factory stuff-- therefore I plan to return to the tint shop to have them install a lighter shade of tint over the rear factory glass to make it a little darker and add the UV/Heat rejection that the tinted films provide. |
