I noticed the same thing on my mother's Chrysler LHS (car). You go to put gas in...pumps about 1/4 gallon and kicks off. Sometimes it happens, sometimes is doesnt. I'd say its something more so with the hose at the gas station...perhaps the sensor is too sensitive? This problem doesnt happen at all gas stations for me...just a few...so I think it has to do with the pump itself.   You visit the same gas station all the time? Same "brand" of gas? (i.e. Exxon, Mobil, etc) They will have the same equipment/nozzle/sensor from station to station...so that might be the problem.   Good Luck...its nothing MAJOR at least! Hopefully your Envoy isnt too thirsty, requiring frequent fillups!   mmateyak

I have had on order for about 6 weeks a set of GM rubber floor mats for my new Envoy. They are still not here and the dealer today said there was a "quality issue" notification from GM saying that the mats would not be delivered until the issue was resolved. Does anyone else know anything about this? Should I drop back and go to plan B?

I've also had this happen on different vehicles and have been able to get around it simply by not mating the fuel pump completely to the vehicle's recepticle (see below). I'm not sure how pumps differ from place to place, but all the ones I've encountered here in CO have on the end of the pump what looks like a pipe surrounded by what looks like a spring that you put into the car. Whenever I've run into the trouble pumping, I simply pull the pump from the completely "in" position to the next spring stop (the pump is still in full connection with the vehicle's recepticle, just not in as far as it'll go) and that usually takes care of the problem. Don't know what the pumps you're using are like, but this might help.... or not. It's worked for me though and use it at your own risk... Just use your head and if you think it might leak, don't do it.

I have a slight vibration when driving at 70 mph on a "good" road, as if there is such a thing in NM. I took it to the dealer and they also felt it, rebalanced and checked the tires and it was still there. They ran a vibration test and said that it was below the 6hz max that GM allows and could not do anything about it. They tested three other TBs and they also had the same issue. Has anyone encountered this in any of the other models?

My Envoy is having the same problem and it happens at different gas stations but not at all of them. We just took it on a 3000 mile road trip and it probably happened about 40% of the time. I was planning on taking it in next week and seeing what the dealer had to say.

Ok, this is the second time I will try to write this, the first one got deleted before I could post. 3300 miles on my Envoy No oil problems as previously mentioned Gas mileage way better than at first Second recall-console-fixed-no problems Luggage rack latch-wouldn't stay latched, they replaced the whole bar.-Very good, as this was causing major rattling on top and was driving me bananas! I know that the rubber molding issue was addressed in earlier posts, however, I think everyone should really check around your windows!! I blew this off and went to take my kids to camp, and low and behold, the rubber molding on top of the windshield was never secured! We drove 150 miles 70 miles an hour with this strip flapping in the wind. Didn't know it until someone got our attention when we exited the highway! I don't know if anything serious could have happened, but it freaked me out! Had to drive all the way home like this. Took it to the dealer and they had to have a glass company come out and secure it. That too is now fixed and I must say I still love this truck!! Drives excellent and the dealer has been very good about everything!! Just thought I would update everyone!! Thanks!

There's been several posts about owners attempting to purchase running board for their 2002 Envoy. I just came from my dealer's parts counter. He gave me the number 12497681 ($429 retail) for the Envoy boards. I have no assurances that they are factory original nor if mounting hardware is included in the kit, and having been burned by the 12497885 misfit, I hesitate to order blindly again. It occurs to me that there must be several Envoy owners that read this forum that have new Envoys with factory installed running boards. Please, someone take a flashlight and read the number stamped on the bottom of the board (GM almost always stamps their parts), and post the number for those of us in need. Thanks.

At 2500 miles, my Envoy is great. Ride is excellant and comfort is supreme. Gas milage has been 17 city and 20 on highway, but there were some mixture on those numbers. Only one tiny grip and that is the roof rack makes a little whistling noise at 60+ speeds. In town SUV is quite as a mouse. Lots of lookers as I go down the road, but best of all, no rattles, no breakdowns, nothing gone wrong yet. Nice job GM   Swithing subject - Read MotorTrends Sept 2001 issue - compared 8 SUV's, Trucks, and HyBrids. While all had + & -, GM had equal or better scores than Exployer in every category and in fact here is the break down of how the Grades (A,B,C,D,F) of all the vehicles break down into 4 and 12 point scales.   1 Escalade 43.9 121 2 Envoy 43.0 117 3 Avalanche 42.5 114 4 Sequia 41.4 112 5 Frontier 39.9 108 6 Exployer 38.5 104 7 Liberty 38.3 103 8 Silverado HD 31.2 84   Again, I realize every vehicle has + & -'s, but overall Envoy #2 just behind the Cadillac Escalade and ahead of Toyata's Sequia #4 and way ahead of the Ford Exployer, which just beat out the Jeep Liberty for 6th place. Obviously I am happy with my Envoy. Nice comparison by MotorTrend.

Sounds like vapor lock. Common in warmer temperatures, turning the feed nozzle upside down probably just breaks the seal of the vapor recover system enough to allow the gas to flow (and circumvent it's purpose).

jw4gm:   I just crawled around on my garage floor, flashlight in hand, for 15 minutes. I could not find any set of numbers stamped or on a label anywhere on the running boards or the three metal brackets on each side. I will keep looking and post if I find any sort of part number.
