The bumper guards above are actually brush guards and will cause more damage in the event that you hit a pole at 5 MPH. The part of the "brush guard" across the grill will be crumpled into the grill and hood. They are used more for appearance than anything else.

TB Experience by bradcar

Here is my experience with new TB>

Chronology of TrailBlazer
1) Called Dealer 7/18 to find out where was TB since it was reported to be in Cincinnati a couple weeks ago. Leaned the vehicle had been delivered to dealership on 7/15.

2) Picked up TB on 7/20
   a) Drove around and at one point after vehicle had been turned-off and then restarted there was no audio.
   b) Returned to Dealer, shut off and when re-started everything was okay
   c) Drove home, stopped on way only to again have audio go out.

3) Returned TB to Dealer 7/23; was provided a rental car. (FIRST ATTEMPT AT FIXING)

4) Picked up TB 7/24, a part had to ordered and would be in a day or two
     a) While looking over the vehicle at home found the cover for the seat belt mechanism had been broken

5) Called 7/26 to find out where is the part, part could not be found. Dealer called back later to say part had been found.

6) Took car back to Dealer 7/26 p.m.

7) Dealer called 7/27, vehicle ready including fixing the seat belt cover. Picked up vehicle afternoon of 7/27
a ) While driving back made a stop and again the audio went out.
      b) Called Dealer to report problem

8) 7/28-29, drove to Hilton Head, on trip down no problem but never turned vehicle off. On return trip when vehicle was turn-off and re-started the audio went out. Called OnStar via cell phone while audio was out and they reported they could not communicate with vehicle. When vehicle was turned-off and restarted the audio came back on.

9) 7/30 called Dealer to say bringing vehicle in and requested rental vehicle; was told we'll get you a nice vehicle
    a) On way to Dealer the engine "Service Light" came on. Reported same to Dealer
     b) Took vehicle in and it took one hour to get the rental vehicle, which was a mini-van as they were out of cars. The van had almost no gas and the ash tray was full of cigarette butts. The Van when you get to around 55 has a shake in the front end.
      c) Dealer called back to say the problem is the radio amplifier. I questioned this since Onstar could not communicate with the vehicle and it doesn't seem like the radio amplifier would stop Onstar from communication GPS and other info. It was also reported that the "service light" coming on was related to the radio amplifier problem. Amplifier has been ordered and Dealer is suppose to be in touch tomorrow to keep us updated.

10) 7/31, called Dealer , told part not in, still planning on replacing audio amp in radio to fix the audio/Onstar and "service engine" light problem. Expect part to be in tomorrow.

Why on earth would someone assault the beautiful looks of a 2002 Envoy with those horrible tubes!?! They are for either serious brush infested off roading or, in our neck of the woods, for moving cattle. Most of these SUV's will likley go nowhere near either situation. It cracks me up to go to the city where I see these suburbanites with their SUV's loaded with these tacky tack-ons. I have a good friend in Kansas City with a $68,000 Range Rover HSE that is fully equipped with front and rear bumper, grille & light guards. I asked if he used them to push the poor people out of his way when he leaves his gate guarded community! At any rate, every owner who adds these should be criminally charged with vandalism. The Envoy is one of the best looking vehicles on the road at any price. Why ruin it?

I think brush guards are a hazard to pedestrians. Many years ago, while walking, I was hit by a car that jumped the curb, Thankfully, my injuries were confined to sever bruising. However, the front of the car was visibly damaged. I think the "give" in the sheet metal saved me from more serious injury. Now, I shudder when I see an SUV with those "bone crusher" bars on the front. It appears that they could inflict unnecessary injury on a pedestrian. Any comments?

morpheus0011 - about those running boards by jw4gm

You stated in msg 1714 that you ordered running boards (12497885) from a local GM parts shop back in mid July. I'm very interested in an update from you. Did you get them? Did they fit your Envoy? I ordered them from GMPartsDirect.com by the same number. They arrived and I made a late night attempt to mount them, but could not due to a mismatch in the contour at each end of the board. Please post whether yours worked or not so I can determine if I received the wrong boards or it may be that I need to make another installation attempt.

Locking Diff by ldcsteelers

Why is it that the only way to get the locking rear miff on a TB is to order the 3.42 miff. It seems to me one of the biggest reasons to get a locking miff is when towing. <or pulling a large boat up a slippery ramp>. The 3.42 miff has the lowest towing weight of the three axle ratios. There is a thousand pound difference between the 3.42 and the 4.10. The locking miff with the 4.10 is available on the Envoy line, why not the TB?
