no, you need to remove intake manifold to get to the EGR Valve pipe, which often clogs up. On the bright side, once the manifold is removed you get to replace the manifold gaskets and really clean the throttle body (by actually takinng it off the vehicle with the manifold). You also get easy access to rear valve cover and so you can easily replace the valve cover oil gaskets as well. This is good service to do if you have over 70K miles any way. The not so bright side is that the job may be around $300. I wouldn't do it myself because there are so many wires and sensors and hoses to remove that it's not even funny. My mechanic was working 6 hours on this job.

but don't just take my word here, the EGR route is one possible cause. You should really have a knoweldgeable mechanic there when your car stalls. When I had an EGR Valve tube clogged up, the car was mostly stalling on cold mornings and was shaking real bad before eventually stalling. If yours cuts off without any shaking then this can definitely be something else... Good luck and don't you wonder why these things don't happen to Honda Accords.

Contemplaing buying a 2006 SL. Has anyone had luck with using a phone not listed in Nissan's website as compatible? I have a Treo 650 and wonder if it will work and if so to what extend. I'm a bit miffed that Bluetooth isn't the "standard" it is marketed to be.

Hi, anybody know how to disable a 1996 security system? I lost our remaining keyfob and since it is an old car I would like to simply disconnect the alarm and use my key for locks. Is there a fuse that I would be able to disconnect??

Bad brake rotors were my problem on my 04 SE. Also, anyone who puts a car bra on their car is asking for trouble period. They ruin your paint! I had one on my 87 Mustang GT years ago and it ruin the pigmentation. If you keep it on there all the time and take it off you will tell the difference in your paint. Dark to light. I put on the clear 3M car bra film. A pain in the butt and lots of patience but it did the job and looks a lot better!

Hi, I saw a few posts where an 8year/80K miles warranty was mentioned on a 2K Maxima. I could not find any reference of this coverage from the manufacturer. Is it true that certain parts are covered this long by the manufacturer on this vehicle? If you have information then please reply and if this is true then what components are covered? Can you provide a link to this information on the internet? Thanks

if this is a built-in security system then using the key is fine without the remote but it sounds like this is something you added to the car yourself and in this case there is usually a button somehwere close to the fuse panel below the steering column. Most alarams come with some button to disable it. You turn the ignition on and press that button to disable it.

I found the information myself. For those interested - Nissan covers the ECM(Engine Computer Module) and Catalytic Converter(s) for 8 years/80K miles under the Federal Vehicle Emission Control Warranty.
