Best truck for a snow plow by rcscruffy
Aug 17, 2005 (7:51 pm)
Not much on this topic posted in the past few years. I haven't plowed snow in a while and was wondering what the current opinions are on the best pick up for snow plowing. Something for driveways. Nothing heavy duty. Chevy or Ford?

Has anyone used a Trail Blazer or Envoy or are they just a car in SUV clothing?

How about best plow these days? 8'.

You want to post that question in Dodge Dakota Owners: Problems & Solutions. Always remember to use the Browse and Search tools in the left margin to find the available discussions for the make/model you want.

Chevy/GMC vs Dodge vs Ford by irg
Oct 19, 2005 (12:08 pm)
I am not sure where to post this. I am looking at the possibility of getting a 1/2 ton pickup. I have a few questions, not sure where to post. First off, I would like to know how the smaller V-8 engines are in each model - the lower end engines. The 4.8 in the GM, the 4.6 in the Ford and the 4.7 in the Dodge. Is there a clear winner? It seems in terms of HP (maybe torque too) that the GM is the better engine. But maybe not. If the mileage isn't much different, I might go bigger, but for my needs, I don't think I need it.

I don't really need a truck yet, but I want one. I do a fair amount of small hauling, like all of our garbage to the dump/recycling, etc. And I can always find other uses for it like firewood, gravel for the driveway, etc. Here is what else I want/need. It must be a 4x4, I live in upstate NY, and have owned a smaller 2wd truck, and I vowed never again.

It should also be an extended cab or crew cab, although the price difference seems fairly substantial in the two (at least for Ford and GM). I realize that Dodge does not sell an extended, only a crew cab. I have 3 children, 2 in booster seats, one in a rear facing car seat. For the vast majority of the time, they will not ride in this vehicle. My other vehicle is a 2005 Toyota Sienna. But for those rare occassions, it would be nice if I could squeeze them in the back. I am sure booster seats work in the extended cabs, will car seats also work?

I have one large dealer in the area (Simmon-Rockwell.com) that sells all three brands. Their prices seem very good, $24k for a STX Ford F150, 4x4, extended cab, $24k for a GMC Sierra, SLE 4x4 extended cab, and $22k for the Dodge Ram 4x4 SLT model, this one is a 2005 I believe, the other two are 2006 models. I might consider leasing/smart buy for lower payments, but then buyin it later on if I like the largeness of these trucks. I need low payments as this is my second vehicle. I will be trading in a '95 Explorer and could put $2-3k down in addition.

Any thoughts on choosing one of these trucks for my needs? I haven't seen posts (I'm sure they exist) that compare the smaller v-8 engines, and would like to know the pros and cons of them. Thanks in advance.

That would be me

There's not an open discussion for the comparison you're looking for, so if you want to start one titled "Half-Ton Comparisons", I'm sure there will be plenty of input!

Looking for the best front rotors for my 1988 F350 by kingf350
Oct 20, 2005 (10:27 pm)
Hi. Newbie here. I was wondering if someone could tell me the options for front rotors for my '88 F350 2WD. (460 F.I. five speed)

Which ones to stay away from, which ones are good for the cost, and where is the best place to get the best price. I'm in So.Cal. (By Riverside.) Appreciate it. You can also Email me at IndyWinnerdslExtreme.com Thanks a ton.
