Just avoid duplicates by pf_flyer HOST

What we're trying to avoid is having hundreds is topics that are very small in scope. For example, we try to keep all questions about problems with vehicles herded into the different make/model "problems and solutions" topics that you'll find across all the message boards. If a topic is created called " Silverado leaking brake lines" to ask about a problem on your specific vehicle/problem, it winds up having a couple of posts and then dies out. And someone who has a different issue will feel like they need to create a new one for their problem.
Gathering all the problems Q&A's in one topic not only keeps us from having an overly long topic list that's hard to find things on, but it also centralizes all the information about vehicel problems, creating a sort of library. If you have a specific problem, and someone has aasked about it and a possible solution has been posted, you will be able to find that information faster. And the best way to do that is using the Advanced Search link over there in the left sidebar. That allows you to search through the titles AND the text of all the posts to find specific information. For example, if you do an advanced search for "functionality" within the text of messages, you will find my post #201 from this topic. It's really a great tool for finding information. Since I get to read every post, there are times when I'll want to find a specific post that I can only remember a word or phrase that it contained. The Advanced Search hasn't failed me yet.

Since you were talking about bed design, I just tried a search for those words. If you type bed and design into the text box, you'll get all posts that have the words bed OR design in them. But if you put it in quotes, "bed design", the search will be for that exact phrase, which narrows your search significantly.

Considering 597 by galaxybeing

I have had a 1999 B2500 for about ten months and I am soooo happy with this little truck. Only a 4cyl 5 spd but what a zippy performer! Bought it with 84K miles on it and NO PROBLEMS, THUS FAR. Replaced the front ball joints, put ceramic brakes and new rotors and new struts and upgraded 14" steel wheels to 15" steel wheels and put Michelin truck tires on it. I added new platinum plugs and top-of-the-line plug wires-without having to take the engine apart-added more response to an already quick performer. It has the flared fenders and it is a sharp looking little truck (short bed). Added a K&N air filter and increased the response even more! 24 mpg when I drive it like a gentleman. Cowboy mileage is 20 mpg but that ain't bad, either. I love shifting the gears. Audio is very good. One thing I would like it to be is the cab-and-a-half, but, since I don't have a lot of stuff to carry it's no BIG DEAL. When it wears out I will look at Mazda trucks, without a doubt, and probably buy another one used from the same dealer. A few after market things like black rubber fender flares around the wheel wells (helped to close up the wheel wells for a nice custom look), Lund Running Boards, an acrylic bug deflector, a soft Tonneau bed cover and great after market premium wheels (only run in the Summer - May to November) AND a non-obtrusive chrome Panther hood ornament make for a sharp looking little truck. Little to no road noise, also, which is great since I use the truck for work selling CableTV! If I ever get rid of this little baby I should be put away for being stupid.

Low road noise, HIGH reliabilty, good to very good gas mileage, looks good-great factory paint, dolls up nicely with after-market stuff, great pick up for those who know how to handle a stick, GREAT IN THE SNOW! I get lots of compliments on it from people who work on vehicles for a living. I would def recommend the Mazda B2500 5 speed standard to anybody. A GREAT VEHICLE!!! THANKS FORD/MAZDA!!! Too bad Ford never put this much quality into the Thunderbird! Maybe they would if they re-named it, Mazda T-Bird. Tch, Tch.

ranger reg cab by lilranger
Mar 24, 2005 (10:33 am)
I have been trying to order a reg cab ranger with 4.0 also ford has seemed to dropped the ball in that little truck they used to put the 4.0 all the way back to the splash in the 90s and XLT from 98-01 and edge from like 00-02 was avalible with reg cab 4.0 and was a rocket. The perfict truck to re-install it in would be the new STX fords new little sport truck but failed to put a REAL engine or even limited slip for that matter. It would be like a little lightning if they did that. Would be nice to have a small sport truck that accually runs and handles nicely and would tow a trailer or boat. So im in the market for a nice used ranger reg cab loaded with 4.0 98-02

Since buying and selling is not allowed here on the Edmunds forums, I'm afraid you're not going to get much of a response. However, you could use the Browse by Vehicle feature in the left sidebar to find Ranger topics where you can talk with folks who own and are actively discussing their truck. here's a link to the one of the topics you'll find:

Was trying to find out if anyone has had engine failure problems with their 2001 Sport Tracs. Mine blew a head gasket, and the engine is totally ruined!

I've reopened the archived Ford Explorer Sport Trac discussion. Read through there and add a post if nothing already answers your concerns.

Thanks for reply. I went to the Ford Explorer Sport Trac discussion, but it is still labeled Read Only, and I don't see any way to post messages. Can you change that? Thanks.

Please advise me... by autonuts
Apr 24, 2005 (9:08 am)
on where I should post a question about older pick-ups from the 1960's? My question is concerning the gas tank layout. My concern is the safety of where the gas fill-up is located. I've read somewhere before that this set-up is concern for a fire hazard in certain impacts, being that the fill-up is directly behind the front driver seat. Can someone advise? Thanks!
