Thank you very much for your thoughts. We obviously have some issues to work out, and we very much appreciate the support you expressed in your post.

I am doing the same thing. No matter what computer I am on, I get into town hall, see the topic lists, click on the topic I had been reading, and am taken directly to the last post I read. Whats different, or rather, what did placemarks do any differently?

That Delete symbol will appear by every post you make. It gives you the capability to delete your own post. Make sense?

You can read more in this section of Town Hall Help (which may be accessed in its entirety from the top of the left side bar).

Placemarks gave you a single page that contained links to all the forums, even if they were in different conferences, that
you were interested in. When you would log into the Townhall, first thing you do is check your placemarks. If any of the
forums had new posts, it showed you which ones.

It was much faster than having to go through individual conferences to find the forums you want to participate in. With
placemarks, you only have to go through the conferemces every now and then, to see if there were any new forums you
wanted to add to your placemarks.

The Owners Clubs are indeed still here. You should be able to get to the board from either the Welcome page or the drop down box at the top left titled Jump to a Section. Let us know if you still can't find it.

This is a message that Sylvia posted last night in case some of you missed it:

#35 of 57 To be logged in or not to be logged in... by Sylvia HOST Dec 15, 2000 (09:53 pm)

They are tuning the server and keep restarting it. It is 5 seconds but logs you out on the message board side
(outside of edmunds, com servers). When you get thrown back to the Town Hall front page (edmunds.com side)
you are still logged in as the cookie gets picked back up. This should settle down tonight.

Sorry for the hassle!

Those issues may still be continuing this morning. It has happened to me once about an hour ago, but not since then. (Last night it seemed like it was happening every 5 minutes.)

We'll continue to look into this one.

About Placemarks and Topic Sort by pat HOST

First, let me point out that Sylvia said early in this topic that providing a similar "placemark-type" feature is definitely on her plate. Of course we will need to get the kinks ironed out before we can rush around adding new features, I'm sure everyone understands that.

tboner, I saw that option in "Preferences" but I didn't mess with it because the default display order is already set to display the topics with the most recent activity first. Have you tried going back to the default?

And because the topics default to displaying by recent activity, it seems to me that there really is no need for placemarks anymore. That makes it very easy to see what topics have recent activity, and to me it seems easy to scan the list for the topics of interest to read. If an interesting topic has no recent activity, it won't move up on the list until it does.

I'm not saying that a placemark-like feature isn't a good idea, I'm just saying that for right now following discussions of interest on the various boards appears to be a whole lot easier here than on the old site without placemarks.

Does this make sense?
