Every time I click on My Watched Items I get a pop-up "QuickTime Failed to initialize. Error #0. Please make sure QuickTime is properly installed on this computer." When I click on [OK] my Firefox browser crashes. This happens every time and I've been on this forum for years, but this behavior is new; within the last week or so. What's up with this? Anybody else experiencing this phenomenon? I *do* have the latest QuickTime add-on for Firefox installed. Pete

I posted this over in Stories from the Sales Frontlines asking for help and Kirstie provided me with the link to this forum. I’m a regular over there so I felt one of the hosts could direct me. Here is my problem: I can not join in on the discussions from my home computer (I’m now at work) ever since my computer had an automatic restart last week. Something to do with McAfee. This kind of stuff has happened before and I was always able to click on the “sign in” button at the top of the page or the orange “reply” button on the post, then put in the required info and I was ready to go. NOT THIS TIME. When I click on either of those two buttons I get a page that says, “Internet Explorer cannot display the web page”. I never had that before and I figured that Edmunds might be having a server problem but that wasn’t the case because the next day at work I had no problem but when I got home I still had the problem. Being a little paranoid I did this back and forth thing for a couple days. I called FIOS and they said since I had no problem getting to any web site it was in my computer. I thought that was the case but I also thought they could tell me where to go within my computer to select the right tab/button/setting to fix the problem. They said they can’t do that. A fellow poster over at SFTSF (subsequent to my post for help), suggested that I down load Firefox. A guy I work with suggested this a couple days ago and I did that. I can’t get to ANY web site with Firefox. Is there an answer to my dilemma? Thanks, jmonroe

All three are free. You may want to get the latest version of IE - IE8. There's a compatibility mode button that helps with contrary websites that may help. Or uninstall McAfee and start over with a fresh install. Or rollback your computer with System Restore.

I bought this computer from Dell in January of 2004 so I doubt I have pirate software. As for IE, I'm pretty sure it is 8.0. Microsoft has a virus program out that is fast and seems to work ok (I never had much luck with McAfee stuff). I will try that when I get home. I've heard more than one person comment on their dislike of McAfee. Or uninstall McAfee and start over with a fresh install. I'm not sure how I can re-install it if I un-install it.  Or rollback your computer with System Restore. That might work if I knew how to do that and only if I wouldn't kill something else. Thanks for your quick reply. jmonroe
