Replying to: pat (Oct 02, 2008 5:03 pm) That is the one to which I was referring earlier. This forum has only one page of postings. The old forum had every posting in all forums listed in the "hybrid cars", in reverse chronological order. I could rapidly see new posts without searching a bunch of individual car model forums. The "new" method is useless, because one has to go into each sub form to see new posts. The "old" method showed newer posts below all those forum categories. This is the second time within a year that Edmunds has bungled a web redesign. The first error was when they redesigned the site with the ads on the right - a LOT of people complain that their text slides under the pictures. If Edmunds had put the ads and pictures on the left, they would have been always visible, but never interfered with browsers that move text to the right when the font size is increased. These two "features" are classic examples of updates with no purpose, and with poor results. Strange, it is almost as if you don't conduct design reviews or have QA checking the designs before they are published...

When I go to that link I'm seeing things as I always have. There are about 30 individual discussions that are listed under the general hybrid vehicles group and then all the sub groups for the Toyota Prius, Chevy Volt etc. I'm wondering if we're looking at some kind of forums preferences issue here. Click on the Forums Preferences link near the top right of the page and check the Forums Settings section for how you're displaying things. Reverse chronological IS one of the settings (Date/time created, oldest first). MIne is set for default ordering as set by forums and I haven't seen any change in the way things display. Let us know what you're set for as see if any changes in those preferences makes a difference.

Replying to: stevedebi (Oct 09, 2008 4:07 pm) My recommendation is that you use the Watched Items feature to track the discussions you follow. That's the easiest way I know of to find new posts in the discussions I wish to follow. It might be a little time-consuming to set up for the first time, but I am certain it will give you want you want. And nothing changed in that feature with this last update! Sorry, hope this is more helpful than my last post.

What is the benefit of joining a forum? I just joined Smart Shopper. Not sure I can tell what it did for me yet. I did notice that a bunch of older threads that used to show up as having new posts now show that I have read them all. They showed up with new posts because I had never read any of them. A few still showed up with new posts, but it was only two or three threads. Do members get reduced drink prices?

Replying to: mattandi (Oct 13, 2008 7:06 am) Putting a watch on a forum keeps you from covering the same real estate twice as once you've read the posts in a forum, that forum will only show up on your Watched Items list when there are new posts in it. The Watched Items list is handy in that it pulls all the discussions you're interested in to one spot and shows you all the new activity. No more clicking about to find all the different spots. Of course, clicking about may be your thing and you can do that too if you so desire! |

Replying to: pf_flyer (Oct 09, 2008 4:38 pm) Well, I don't know if we are speaking of the same forum. There used to be a forum called "Hybrid Cars" and THAT forum listed ALL messages in all forums, using many pages, not just one page of forum links. The list of sub groups was at the top as well (just like the current "Hybrid Vehicles" forum). That way I could monitor new messages in ALL forums that contained hybrid cars. It worked very well. The "Hybrid Cars" forum went bye-bye suddenly, and I had to move to the "Hybrid Vehicles" forum. I don't know if it is a new or an old forum, but it does NOT show all articles from all forums - only a few articles. With this forum, I have to go into each vehicle forum to see if there are any new articles. Which is very bad... Anyway, it is possible that I was looking at a forum that has since been removed. But regardless of old/new, under the current format, in order to see new posts, I have to enter each sub forum, whereas I used to be able to see all new posts immediately under the list of subforums - a great time saver. At this point I'm no longer checking most of the hybrid forums, only a couple. It just takes too much time, and to be frank, checking for new postings is what a computer is good at - so I'm a bit upset about the "progress" (NOT) of the forums... Forgive me if you had anything to do with redesign, but the past year has seen a bunch of bone headed changes in the Forums, each of which has made it more difficult to use and less useful over all. I find it humorous that Edmunds made a big fuss about breaking out the forums into sub topics (against the wishes of most forum readers), then is continuously shutting people off when they create new topics, because those topics fall under already established topics! Then they designed the ads on the right (they could just as easily been on the left side), causing many people to lose text under the browsers, and now they killed my favorite "combination" forum, with no explanation or reason that I can see. |

I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado 4WD with a Fisher 7.5 Minute Mount snow plow electric/hydra and when used for a while I can stall the engine. The truck does have an HD alternator but the battery is the original which is 650 CCA . I'm thinking that I need to upgrade the size of the Battery to have some reserve when plowing. So My question is should I buy a deep cycle 900CCA or just a 1000CCA optima Red Top? any ideas???
