Several times a day I get the message that you are updating the database. I go to threads that no longer exist. Not sure if the site is as good as it was 5 years ago. It takes a lot longer now than it used to . I have tried the latest IE7 version and most of the time use FireFox. The pleasure of Edmund's is going away.

I looked all over but couldn't find anything to answer my questions
The Help files are being updated to include questions about Answers. Haven't heard an ETA.

Points

I'm fuzzy on points (well, I'm still a bit fuzzy about everything, so don't cast all of this in gray iron). You get a nice hunk of points for joining. You get points for asking a Question. And you get points for Answering questions. You get more points if your Answer is selected as best. And there's a 30 day point tally as well as an all-time leaderboard.

Navigation

Tweaks are on the wish list. You can click on My Answers Profile to see what Questions you've asked and what Answers you have written. You can search by user name if you happen to note it when you respond to an Answer but it may be easier to use Search by Questions.

Or you can expand the Categories list and view all the, say Maintenance & Repair > Exhaust questions. Some of the Questions will show up as Unanswered even when you see a Reply or two, since a Question won't get answered until the voting closes (see below).

There's also an RSS feed option if you click View More on one of the Browse Questions or Answers page. I haven't played with that yet for Answers but the RSS Feed will download the Questions to your computer and you could just keep the ones you are trying to track in your Inbox or your reader.

Voting

Anyone logged in (i.e., registered) can vote on an Answer. If the person asking the Questions votes an Answer as the best one, then the Question is closed and that Answer is the best. Otherwise the Answer that the community has voted for the most with a thumbs up will get deemed best after a period of time (a week, iirc).

Thanks,
That helps.

Glad that there will be something to help answer my questions about answers, so I can answer more questions on answers. I kill myself.

There's also an RSS feed option if you click View More on one of the Browse Questions or Answers page.

Once I figure out what RSS is, I'll be on that.

Thanks!

I think there's some more ways the points are juggled too, but I'll wait on more news before digging my hole any deeper.

Happened today. I shutdown computer and restarted and this is my linked page from bookmarks
...carspace.com/csgroups

This is my page

link title

If I go to Home in the bar, I get recognized user name and the SignOut button only. The SignIn button is gone. Then when I come back to Carspace using the topmost link above the graphics, I have the normal page with "Read News Posts, Watched Items, etc."

Are you in IE6? We discovered an issue late Thursday evening after our production release that updated the header section across CarSpace and Forums that makes IE6 unhappy. We have a fix for it as of late last night / early this morning and it will go in on Tuesday if not before.

You should be able to login or be logged in once you hit the non-carspace.com forums page (e.g. a townhall-talk.edmunds.com page)

Okay, so why would a button with such annoying implications as "remove all tracking" not have a safeguard?

Yep, you caught me Frank. I meant to click "Catch Up" and missed. Still seems that something like removing the tracking on every single thread should have a backup screen.... like "WTF?! Are you sure?"
