#1 of 4444 Welcome!
Dec 15, 2000 (7:02 am)
Welcome to the new message boards in Town Hall. We are sure that you have questions, so ask away! We will do our best to assist you.
#2 of 4444 OK. I think I hate the new look.
Dec 15, 2000 (2:09 pm)
But I'll leanr to like it. Now, how do I edit a post after its been posted?
#3 of 4444 No editting of posts
Dec 15, 2000 (2:30 pm)
No editting of posts. Once you post it, it will live forever...unless you delete it.
RE: The Hosts read all of the discussions. If you were to change your post (say for the sake of discussion) to something objectionable after they had already read the post, it would not flag it to be "read again" by the Hosts. It would also allow people to go back and change their posts. That can sometime disturb the flow of the discussion as all of the posts after that are commenting on that original post - not the editted version.
#4 of 4444 Is the "bookmark" feature available with the new software?
Dec 15, 2000 (3:23 pm)
Is there anyway to "bookmark" topics like the older software? I couldn't find it in the help section.
Dec 15, 2000 (3:51 pm)
I just posted my questions in Talk to the Hosts. However, when I clicked on this topic from my welcome page, where I was already logged in, it said that I had to be logged in to post.
I'm beginning to think that ALL the Netscape bookmarks that I just added will NOT work. It seems like EVERY topic I want to go to will have to be accessed from the welcome page and the entire topic list.
PLEASE tell me this isn't the case and that I'm doing something wrong!
#6 of 4444 How do I find topics I've visited?
Dec 15, 2000 (4:03 pm)
These topics cannot be re-ordered by number of new posts, right?
In my "miscellaneous settings", that looks like it just might be upgradable to do the above, or add other features. Yes/no?
#7 of 4444 New software
Dec 15, 2000 (4:04 pm)
Can anyone post what the actual changes are or any new features? Or is it simply a different look? Just how does this make my life any easier?
I will say this: I like the fact that the message box that I'm currently typing in is wider. I thought the old one was a little cramped.
What happended to all the posts from the last couple of days? And how do I flag just those threads in each conference that I feel like following?
#8 of 4444 Bookmarks/Placemark feature
Dec 15, 2000 (5:16 pm)
No, there is no bookmark/placemark feature.
I would hope that in the coming months we can roll in a feature similar to placemarks. However, that said, if we do get such a feature we still would not be able to move in your placemarks from the old system.
#9 of 4444 fastdriver...
Dec 15, 2000 (5:23 pm)
I don't think that is the case, but I will check it out. I **think** that there is a problem with that particular URL (we are fixing it right now). I will give it a test drive as well.
#10 of 4444 bookmark/placemark is a very important feature
Dec 15, 2000 (5:26 pm)
Having bookmarks and placemarks was a great feature. I could check the site from any computer and it would remember the last post I had read. I think that this feature should be implemented again. It allowed me to see at a glance if there were any new posts that I did not read yet. Please find a way to bring this feature back.
