Ok, Ok, I'll admit it......I have been an American buyer only with your typical Chevy, Buick, Ford vehicles. So I decided I really wanted to give my wife a well-defined, higher scale, classy automobile with all the goodies. That wasn't going to happen with Acura 3.2tl, Lexus 400 or even Toyota Avalon all well into the mid $30s or above. Then after much shopping, I accidently ran into the XG350L......Gorgeous appearance, great ride with sport suspension, as much power as you could ever need, every option I wanted and many more I didn't even knew existed. Did you know when you put your car into reverse the (heated) outside mirrors tilt down to show you your relationship to the curb? Then go back to your original position when you shift into a forward gear. I am so totally impressed with this vehicle, not because of its quality, its unbelievable sound system or all of its auto/features but because the whole thing is covered bumper to bumper for 5 years/60k !!! I got every option available except for the moonroof defector for $26,100. and have been 100% impressed. I'm no small guy, 6' and 215 and as quite comfy in the 6 way, programmable, heated leather seats. Instrumentation is so easy to reach and very good visibility. If I had one small complaint, it would be gas milage.....but have gotten 18 miles in "city type" driving which is acceptable but hoped for a little better. Haven't been on a serious long drive yet. 18/26 so the manual says. I think you should definitely use this XG350 as a basic for your "step up into the luxury" category. Definitely the most bang for the buck and how can you go wrong with the best warranty in the business! I have definately changed my opinion about the foreign cars and that goes triple for HYUNDAI!
#990 of 2117 ONE YEAR EXPERIENCE (ALMOST)

Have had a very good experience for the past year-no wind noise, no squeaks or rattles, no thumping rear end, no nothing! When car was bought in 2001 it was delivered with warped front rotors and defective radio. These were replaced promptly.
From the previous messages-has the warranty been reduced to 5 years/60,000 miles? Are they starting to add a surcharge to the list price?

It's 5/60K for second owners, 10,100K for first owners.

Yoon...The Equus is a beauty. Any chance we will see it here in the near future? Is that a pix of a 2002?

it's a concept vehicle that was on display at the chicago auto show..
i'm betting that some design elements will be incorporated into the next redesign of the car.
#996 of 2117 On Board Computer problems
by mavric68

Here's an update on my problem with the on board computer that controls the electronics. The dealer replaced the CPU. 5 days later, the air bag light started intermittently coming on and finally stayed on. 7 days later, the check engine light came back on and stayed lit. During this time, the car started acting up. At 40-50 mph, you could let off the gas and the car would maintain speed for the next 1/4 to 1/2 mile. The cruise was not on. This caused a problem when coming up to cars at red lights because the car would take more brake pressure than normal to stop and as a result, the tires would make an extra rotation that I was not counting on. Anyone else had similar problems? It's at the dealer now and they have always been very friendly and professional to deal with.

The current issue of AMI Autoworld magazine has a positive story on the XG350. They were particularly impressed with the front design (grill, lights, etc.) and the interior's genuine touch of luxury and sophistication.
Last year they reviewed the XG300 but compared it to the Camry/Accord, this time the comparison is to entry-level luxury sedans.
Enjoy!
