Your start our your message with the following comment to which I want to take some exception:
"I'll be honest, i'm not a honda/acura fan. I do envy the quality, craftmenship that go into these cars, but i despise their lack value for the price or extra price for name tag philosophy."
I don't understand your comment about "lack of value for the price" or "extra price for name tag philosophy". With respect to the RL, I don't think this has been true. In fact, Honda has been selling or leasing the RL at good discounts for several years now compared to other cars in the same or higher price ranges (probably to entice and introduce new buyers to the Acura RL in hopes of building up future sales momentum). The 2005 RL might just do the trick! The RL has, however, been notching up in price each year and the 2005 may be in the high $40,000 range (hopefully it has not hit $50,000). I am not happy that my beloved RL is getting to be so expensive to replace.
I leased a 1997 and now a 2002 at what I considered a very good discounted deal for the top notch car I have (i.e., your point about envy for the high quality and craftsmanship is right to the point). That alone should justify the price. I have had no problems to report to the dealer with either my 2002 or 1997 Acura--they were problem free since day one. When I bought American cars prior to becoming an Acura owner, I always had to return them to the dealer to fix all sorts of annoying problems because of poor quality control.
Now that you have been exposed to the 2005 RL with your many comments of praise, perhaps you will be a convert to Acura (I hope so!) and recognize why Acura fans like me are totally committed to one of the finest cars built today. I don't need to drive a BMW or Mercedes to impress anyone. The daily joy I get from driving my RL is all I need. I have never driven another car that has made my this happy behind the wheel. I am anxious to drive the 2005 RL, but will probably stay with my 2002 (with only 38,000 miles) for many more years.

...Should be in my driveway tomorrow afternoon...

I saw a few different colors on the RL as soon as it came off the truck today....I honed in on the Carbon Grey since I have a deposit on one....the black and black looked good, but I really like the Carbon Grey, unfortunately this one had black interior, another vehicle sported the taupe which looked very classy, as long as you don't have young children I think this would be a great color choice. Note, the film and packaging was still on the car, but I was still impressed with the Carbon Grey, I have had two TL's back to back with black exterior, and my two previous cars before that were black, but from the looks of things Carbon Grey will be it for me, it's just a matter of what interior I'll end up with. I did like the taupe though, it looked lighter than the brochure's depiction. Hope this helps, it's probably a matter of personal opinion, but I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Good news, I bet it will take a while for them to prep the car. Is it at the dealer yet?

Yes, it's at the dealer (Augusta GA) and they're putting it on a truck to ship to Alabama...You know, I can't wait...

Is the carbon grey the color of the RL in the exterior showroom at the Acura website?
Oct 13, 2004 (3:30 pm)
While looking at the cars more closely the car in the exterior showroom no longer appears to be the Carbon Grey, I don't have the brochure with me but one of the bluish silver's seemed to match the exterior showroom color.

yesterday at the local dealers. Liked black on black, white with parchment, desert mist (gold) with parchment. Did not see blue, carbon gray, red etc. Really preferred the parchment interior. The wood is hard to see with the black. Did not see the taupe interior. I preferred black/parchment the best, but am disappointed the opulent blue pearl will not be offered with parchment. Did not drive it but my impression on the styling is that it is very hard to tell it apart from the TL from the front and side, it is only 6 inches longer, and the rear seat legroom and trunk space is not very generous. The center console sticks out from the dash somewhat oddly. I am excited to drive it, though, and I think it will be a winner.
#4103 of 7386 Acura Web Site Updated
Oct 14, 2004 (5:25 am)
Acura has updated its web site to allow you to price out the 05 RL. You can also pick colors, dealer installed options, etc...
I'm disappointed in the look of the 18" wheels (not to mention the price), but I'll reserve final judgement until I see in person.
$614 for the backup sensors seems pricey also. Hope that includes installation.
