I think 18.5 MPG actually sounds about average. The I35 is rated by the EPA at 20 City/26 Highway. That V6 is pretty big and way powerful.

The EPA testing uses very mild driving techniques and even though they make adjustments to get the figures closer to real world experience, I have never experienced a car that did as well as the EPA estimates in overall driving. Occasionally, I have exceeded EPA highway estimates on long trips where I filled up on the road and had experienced nothing except steady highway cruising.

My car is rated at 22 City/28 Highway and I generally get between 19-21 MPG with a combo of city street and urban highway driving. On pure highway driving I get about 25 MPG. I check my mileage every time I fill up. I drive fairly aggressively and fast - usually 8 or 9 miles over the limit in town and between 75 & 80 MPH on the highway.

I did a Google search for the 2005 M35 and came up with this link to several photos of the exterior and interior. My apologies if this is old news...I'm new to this group.
I have a 2000 I30 and was hoping that Infiniti would come out with a car larger that the G35 to "replace" the I series. The M35 appears to be exactly what I was looking for. I hope they have one at the NY auto show in April.

I am planning to buy the 04-I35 just for the value it has to offer for the price. I am getting a 04 I35 for $27,200 from dealers in NY & NJ with cold weather package does not include tax & registration.
How does the deal sound?

Sounds like a very good deal. Doesn't sound like you're leaving any money on the table. Congratulations

Sounds like a great deal. Go for it. I may be in the market in May or June, and I'm considering the I35 for the room and value. (you get a ton of stuff for the price- Acura can't even match that)

I just got the 2004 I35 it is great value for money and I would argue has great luxury and power for the money you pay. Here is what I paid for the car with cold weather package in total $26,791 + Tax + registration total walkout with the car as $28,548.46.
This site has been really very helpfull during my buying process.

Great deal! I thought you were buying at the $27,200. How did you get it lower? What was MSRP on that one?
I have heard that the mpg is lower with the 3.5L engine than the earlier 3.0L engine. Please tell us later your mpg with approx. 50/50 city-highway.

I kept getting quotes from delaers and they have a good cash back from Infiniti that helped me get that price. The MSRP on the car was approx $32,000.
I have just driven the car for 100 miles with 50/50 mix of highway & local roads and my current mileage is 23MPG.
