End your misery by buying a 09 Accord Sdn EXL V-6. Workmanship on Accord much, much better then any Toyota.

I will mostly agree with that. I checked out the '08 Accord and '09 Camry (I4 auto) earlier this year before buying. Pros for the Accord are fit and finish, handling and better steering feel. Cons included overall under the hood design/layout, low speed engine vibration and the ride was too firm. Both V6's were very smooth, but that was not in the budget. I ended up buying the Camry because I "fit" in it better and the ride was more compliant.

atb2: I know what you mean by ride too firm. I like a firm ride. The Camry remind's me of a 98 Buick Lesabre Limited that I purchase new. The ride was cushey, and soft. When riding the Parkway the floating was very prevalent. Also, I prefer the 6cyl over a 4cyl. I recently purchase an 08 Acura TL w/navigation. It's a great car, but sporty. It's red in color which you don't see many of that color on the highway. However, I've finally realize that I'm to old for a sport car. I've got 1900 miles on the car, and I'm thinking about selling it, and buying a 09 Accord EX L Sdn V-6.

I totally agree with you - the HOnda may be better in many ways, I'm not sure, but the ride is stiff, the steering is hard, and it's cramped. I'm just much more comfy in the Camry.

Rattles of the Accord....

I own an 06 Accord LX and my g/f an 04 EX V6. Neither have ever been modified, but have annoying rattles. I usually just turn the music up to cancel the rattles, but this has me wondering if the Camry has the same problems.
I rented an 07 or 08 Malibu back in October which was really quiet even when I tried to hit the small bumps and rougher part of the pavement. I rode in a friend's 07 F150 which rode very nice and did not have any rattles.
Maybe Honda has worked this out with the 08's+. I will have to research this. I used to be all about Honda, but may switch over (not to Chevy, sorry) if the Camry shows to have better build quality.

James, it has been 7 months after you posted the transmission issue, is it still OK? any other problem with 2009 Camry V6? Thanks.

Oh, I've not visited this site for a while. My Camry v6 has been running well. The squeezing sound is actually coming from the panel when the car is cold. I think I was expecting the Lexus quietness from the camry v6, but I think it's acceptable for a great car at this price level. I'm very happy so far.

It comes down to that age old argument... If you're looking for a comfortable car with a sofa like ride while having the personality of Ben Stein in Ferris Bueller's day off, you buy the Camry.
If you're wanting a car that isn't quite as cushy but actually has some driving enjoyment with better build quality, you buy the Accord.

I bought a Camry this year after also test driving an Accord. Both were nice cars, but the deals on the Camry were much better. They are a bit different, but I don't think as much as some claim. If rattles bug you, my experience has been its an issue on a lot of Honda and Toyota products. You may want to look at the 2010 Fusion. I think they are built a little tighter than either Accord or Camry. Can't say much about the Malibu. They weren't offering the good deals they are now when I was buying and there was just something I didn't like about the entry and exit ergonomics when I sat in it during the auto show. I'd test drive all four of these, narrow down the ones you like best and then go by price.

I had issues with my last two Honda SUV's so I have moved to a toyota Camry. Previously always had Honda's over approx 20 years (Accord, Prelude, CR-V and Pilot). I have a V6 Camry 2008 LE.
It does have a great feature that allows you to have a manual transmission/standard shifting which is great in the snow, I live in New England.
I would beware. There are a lot of nice features but it vibrates on the highway once you reach 65-75. This did not happen in a test drive on the highway. This was noticed in the first week of ownership, November '08. It is not a tire balance issue. Have gone back and forth with the dealer and Toyota Corp which has stated it is by design, although it doesn't seem everyone has it. I am heading to arbitration. The bluetooth is great, but eventually gives intermittent problems and Toyota doesn't stand behind it.
Check disputes and complaints about any vehicle you are thinking of purchasing, if you have time.
good luck
