Most top magazines have picked the Accord over the Camry. If you look at the interior od both their volume sellers, LE and LX, the interior (IMHO) is much better in the Accord than the Camry.

Also, most publications have praised the Accords saets as some of the best around.

Having said this, both cars are great and cater to different kind of drivers, some looking for isolation, others looking for feel.

I think most Accord owners were trying to say the Camry interior was about as dull as the Buick Century and LeSabre!

Camry is as close to a S class or LS430 as the Accord is to a BMW 7 series or Aston Martin. In other words, not in the same universe.

Except for the stability control (OK, I'll get that on my next car) my '04 EX-L Accord includes ALL of the features you mention along with others like a telescoping steering wheel and XM radio that weren't available on the Camry.

Not sure about this, but the Camry SE might have included one of those silly wing things on the trunk lid and I will not own any car with such junk stuck onto it.

The Camry is fine for those who want a soft car--I don't......Richard

Opinion on V6 by bizi

With recent purchase experience, I'd offer following opinions (well, just opinions):

1. Because of trim differences, Accord vs. Camry comparison is best done by comparing competing trim levels. For example, I4 engine comparison and V6 engine comparison could very well yield different results. I was shopping for V6 sedan, so following opinions are for V6 sedans only.

2. In currently models, Camry has two different V6 engines. SE has newer 3.3L engine (which is similar to the one used in Toyota Sienna and Lexus RX330), other trims have older 3.0L engine. Performance wise, 3.3L SE is more comparable to Accord V6, which uses single 3.0L engine. Both Toyota 3.3L and Honda 3.0L are smooth and powerful. Toyota may sometimes hesitate at street speed acceleration (see also Sienna and RX330 discussion forums, I have experience on this), Accord maybe a bit slow on down shifting at highway speed (saves gas, I guess). I believe Accord feels a bit more responsive.

3. As you know, Toyota go by options, Honda usually only go by trim level with little options (Navigation is the only MFR option for Accord). Toyota gives more flexibility in configuration, but what one wanted in particular may not be easy to get. For V6 trims, Accord usually has a bit lower MSRP compare to similarly equipped Camry. This is often reflected on street prices as well.

4. For Camry, not all features available on XLE are available on SE. This could make a tough choice, especially when XLE cannot have the newer 3.3L engine. BTW, XLE has a nice rear A/C vent (rear of center console). Other trims don't have it. Accord has vents under front seats, mostly for heater.

5. Some posts mentioned hard ride or noisy cabin of Accord. I suspect these opinions may be influenced by older generations of Accord. In my experience, the current model of Accord doesn't feel any noiser than Camry. Some commentators are saying Accord is too isolated, actually. The ride feel are very different between Accord and Camry, indeed. Accord is taut, but not jarring. Many Acura TSX and TL buyers actually think Accord's too soft. Camry has softer feel, but it's not really that bouncy soft either (and diffrence between SE and XLE is not huge).

6. One interesting observation: many people in the forum uses closeness between Camry and Lexus to make a point that Camry is nicer, but few people use "Accord is close to Acura TL" to prove that Accord is nice car:-) Maybe Lexus is better than Acura? Maybe Accord buyers don't need such a comparison?

7. Checking many on-line magzines, they usually give edge to Accord. Maybe because it's more "driver-oriented" car?

if lexus is your standard then the camry is for you. but lexus is known for isolating the driver and offering boring driving dynamics.

true, the camry rides softer (not better) and is quieter than the accord but the difference is small. this is more than offset by the accord's overall superior driving dynamics.

it's the accord that comes closer to the driving dynamics of expensive luxury cars (except for precious lexus), not the camry.

as for seat comfort, soft seats are not idea for long term comfort. the current accord's seats are much improved over past generations and provide excellent long term comfort.

Peterpan enjoys provoking Accord owners into defending their cars and he's very successful at it. Every week or so on this forum he throws out some biased opinion unsupported by hard data and then watches the Accord owners scramble to reply.

Look at the furor caused over his message #1885. Peterpan's warning on the terrible dangers of driving an Accord turned out to be inconclusive data taken in 1994-1997.

These posts are trolls. Unless you enjoy being baited, I'd recommend just letting him have his say - with unlimited exclamation marks.

Using anecdotal evidence from a few disgruntled owners and trying to draw a firm conclusion about a product's reliability is known as bad journalism. There are many anti Honda sites as well that rant about Honda's transmission problem. Does that make the Accord a Lemon ? The fact is the overwhelming majority owners of both these cars are very happy with their product. Lighten up everybody. :}

Well said, motownusa.

Let's stick to the cars, folks. Just ignore the posts which you regard as "trolling" and don't worry about the behavior of others.

If you have a specific concern, you are welcome to email me, but please do not tell others how to behave.

Thanks.
