2005 LA show impressions by kurtamaxxguy

comparing similar hierarchy models, it seemed the Honda had a more refined interior (some of the Camry's dash trim was downright cheap). The Honda also had a "firmer" feel than the Camry (firmer seats, more robust lumbar support, etc.).

Whatever....both Honda and Camry sell very well.

Would you mind pointing out which part(s) of the Camry's dash is "downright cheap"? I just want to know for comparison sake what your definition of cheap is. Thanks.

The Camry does have a auto up feature on the driver's window. Mine came with standard carpet mats too. Also, lets not forget that Camry has the auto dimming electrochroming rearview mirror which is so very much helpful with all those glaring lights out there UNLIKE the accord and the Camry also has the outside heated mirrors UNLIKE the accord. I would choose the Camry any day over the accord. A lot of my friends have also told me that it looks like a very high class car and is one too and with time the Camry is not going to lose its nice looks but the accord will look bland. Also...to let you know that a friend of mine just bought a brand new accord against my wish and advice and since then has regretted it because the dash in her car was misalligned and the steering wheel was crooked. She has returned the car for a Camry and not regretted it so far.

As far as i am concerned and from various magazines that I have read, the car with top notch quality interior is the Camry with its lexus like interior and then the passat and then comes the accord. But, by no means am I trying to say that the accord does not have high quality interior. All of them do.

Accord's seats are hard, ride is very stiff by peterpan

Driving the Accord is like riding a touring bike, with a wooden seat, over rough roads!! You can feel every bump, bounce and shake.

Handling qualities in both Camry and Accord are not much to brag about, since they are both FWD.

Camry's seats are much softer, more cushiony, more comfortable, with just the right amount of back support.

The Camry's ride is much quieter and smoother, more like luxury cars. In fact the Camry's ride quality comes pretty close to the top Lexus sedans. It just has more chassis twisting and body rolling in hard maneuvers, things that are barely perceptible to experienced drivers, whereas the Lexus always feels rock solid. Unless you are familiar with the ride qualities of luxury and high-performance cars, you would never be able to discern the Camry's ride quality compared to the Accord's.

Drivers should feel more tranquil and less fatigue in a Camry, especially on long trips, for women, children and older people.

As Camry and Accord are roughly equivalent in prices, features, performance and reliability, I would favor the Camry to reduce the amount of wear and tear on the bodies and minds of drivers and riders, especially during the long hours of commute or long road trips. After all you want the car to work for you, not you working for the car!

For fun and excitement, I have plenty of computer games, some far more exciting and challenging than taking the risks of tearing up roads and terrorizing traffic with my car everyday, as a few Accord drivers think they should.

Test drive all expensive luxury cars, Lexus, Acura, MB, BMW...before buying your next cars. The guys at Jim Falk's Bevery Hills Lexus will give you a free wild ride that would proves the worth of luxury cars.

No, I don't work for Toyota!

Yes, the Camry (at least the LE I test drove in August, '03) is soft and quiet and dull as dishwater.

And yes, the Accord rides harder but is more of a driver's car and less of a passenger's car.

Fortunately, both the Camry and Accord are excellent cars with respect to reliability and resale value.

With respect to seats, the leather seats in the Accord are about the best available IMO....Richard

You are probably trying to say the Camry is as dull as the MB S class or Lexus LS430!

If you prefer sporty ride, buy the Camry SE.

For $1000 more than the LE, it has stiffer suspension tuned for sporty rides, quicker steering, sway bars front and rear, 4-wheel dis brakes, 16" tires, moonroof and a bunch of other standard features. You can also order the GU option which combine the Veh Stability Control and all side airbags for another $1000. Accord does not even have Stability Control option.

The SE is the best buy for Camry.

Most top magazines have picked the Accord over the Camry. If you look at the interior od both their volume sellers, LE and LX, the interior (IMHO) is much better in the Accord than the Camry.

Also, most publications have praised the Accords saets as some of the best around.

Having said this, both cars are great and cater to different kind of drivers, some looking for isolation, others looking for feel.

I think most Accord owners were trying to say the Camry interior was about as dull as the Buick Century and LeSabre!

Camry is as close to a S class or LS430 as the Accord is to a BMW 7 series or Aston Martin. In other words, not in the same universe.

Except for the stability control (OK, I'll get that on my next car) my '04 EX-L Accord includes ALL of the features you mention along with others like a telescoping steering wheel and XM radio that weren't available on the Camry.

Not sure about this, but the Camry SE might have included one of those silly wing things on the trunk lid and I will not own any car with such junk stuck onto it.

The Camry is fine for those who want a soft car--I don't......Richard
