| Bonehead move last nite, I left the pax window 1/2 open and it rained a fair bit overnite. Aside from sopping up the standing water, is there anything else I could do, like popping a chassis drain plug? Also, anything to look out for down the road? Thanks! | |

If the compressor is not turning than you nees to go a voltage meter (wallmart $9), w/ the car on but the compressor off find the connection to the compressor. once you locate the remote wire than turn on the compressor and check if you are getting a reading than you know its the compressor, if no reading or a weak reading than check your connections, GROUND, and relays |

Replying to: uqmoore (Apr 26, 2000 5:59 pm) crutchfield is very good when it comes to finding the right sterio for your car, but if your taurus is like my 99 taurus, it has the round faceplate in the center of the dash.... there's no cd player or tape deck that can fit, unless you order the faceplate and tape deck from ford directly... (I battled this one for two years.....) you can't get a cd player put in your car, at least not in the cabin. The 99 taurus's have a built in adapter and brackets for the 5 or 6 disk changer in the trunk, right below the back window. it's basicly, plug and play. if your faceplate in the dash has the 'disc' buttons, then once you install it (a few screws and one big plug) you're good to go. if your faceplate doesn't have those buttons, you can order a new faceplate and tape deck from ford, and have your local body shop or mechanic install it for you. there's a special tool they will need to take the plate off, don't try it yourself or you'll break it without it. Oh, and don't waste your money on a 300 or 400 dollar changer, they're all the same unless you have new speakers put in. |

Since the SES model no longer exists, how does a 2002 SES compare to a 2006 SE? I noticed the newer Tauruses lost the puddle lamps, glove box light, dark tint band at the top of the windshield, and changed to black plastic interior door handles. What else? Is there any other decontenting that is not visible? For instance did they reduce sound insulation, bumper quality, seat cushion quality or make any other hidden changes? Did they actually improve anything? If you upgrade from SE to LX on the 2006, do you get any of those lost features back? |

As I begin to remove the old one it seems to me that it may be easiest to remove the motor with the tranny. Can anyone confirm this? I was going to try removing just the transmission but I on't think I could drop it without removing the subframe. |

It is a 3.0 with a 110,00o miles on it. It is using about 1 qt about every 500 miles or so. It is not leaking at all.
