I have a white 94 Grand Marquis, the car ran perfect until it started with a light tremble between 35-45 mph.I changed the oil, oil filter, gas filter put new spark plugs nothing helped then i put new spark plug cables, and everything was alot better, but still a light tremble, it goes away when I step on the gas, but its coming back, it almost seems like its burning the cables too quickly, or I dont know maybe something with the transmission, I honestly dont recall when was the last time they changed the trans oil, i know its not as often as it is for the motor oil. dont know, but would like to;cause im FED UP with these mechanics that charged my mom $500 for changing I dont know what the heck. If anybody has any idea or tips Id really appreciate it. thanks

I have a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis. This is the first car I can remember owning where the steering wheel does not lock into position after parking. My understanding is that it used to have this feature, but it was eliminated. Anyone know why?

sounds like your experiencing the classic transmission 'shutter'. Change your tranny fluid with mercon v and that should fix your problem. It did for me, used to surge between 30-40. Here is how to do it

I Second the suggestion to change the tranny fluid, filter, & remember to drain the torque converter. Mercon V is the most expensive, but it lasts longer.

1998 Grand Marquis Rough Idle by jcro

My wife and I recently inherited this car from her parents. It ran great until a couple weeks ago when it had a rough idle. It only lasted for one trip in town and ran fine the next day. A couple days ago it began to idle rough again. The check engine light came on and it soon had a strong sulfur type smell. I'm not at all familiar with this car and I'm wondering if there is something fairly obvious I should be looking for. Any ideas? Thanks for any information.

Have the light scanned, it'll tell you what's wrong, and it can most likely be easily fixed.

Groaning noise from brakes by joe3716

99 GM-LS with 94K. Own since new. Every time the brakes are applied, a groaning or "swooshing" noise comes from the brake pedal under the dash. Groan is louder when brakes are warm. Pedal also has a pulsating feel (with the groaning) with harder braking. At red lights stops, car would start to creep and require to push brake pedal harder to stop the creeping.

What is causing the groaning or swooshing noise, the slow creeping, and the pulsating feel of the brake pedal? Air in system? Booster push rod too short? Booster leak?

the noise sounds like the boot is rubbing on something. The rest of the symptoms sound like your master cylinder may be going soft.

2001 MGM Engine Elec. Problem 4.6 Engine by rod73

Engine stops while driving - No warning, no check engine light. Will crank, but not start immediately, but will after about 30 seconds, and runs "normally". Garage found fuel pump with high amp draw. Replaced pump and filter. No fault codes present. Engine quit while driving in traffic (moving 70 MPH) and saw eng. temp light flash - no other cluster lights seen. Had driven about 400 miles continuously prior to event. Today, engine stopped as I started to accelerate to merge into traffic. As I let up on gas the engine came back and ran normally for rest of 12 mile trip. Anybody else had same problem?. I am soon to leave on a 1000 mile trip and need to solve this safety problem before I go . Any ideas on problem cause?
