Replying to: helmetcam (Apr 20, 2008 12:03 pm) Yes, you should. 2 good reasons.   #1 - the A4OD transmission in that Ford is built like Fort Knox - it's made for livery and police use, and even with neglect, will go 100,000 before needing any work. Properly lubricated, nobody knows how long it will run before breaking down. So there's no reason NOT to use it.   #2 - Your mileage will improve a lot if you use it.

So, for the most part, just like Blanche DuBois, I am dependent on the kindness of strangers.   Now, if you want to talk engineering or architecture... that's a different story.

...and everything is hooked back up (all connectors, fuel lines, vacuum lines, etc) and triple checked. Followed Ford shop manual procedure for the work, but now the car won't start. It cranks but won't fire. Vented fuel rails and they are full. The fuel pump is working. I am lost. Is there some kind of "reset" sequence that I don't know about? Could it be the crank sensor? It worked when I took it out and cleaned it, I even checked to make sure it was a good complete circuit before I re-installed it. please advise...

Finally ended up chasing all the wires and found the pins for the crank position sensor were pushed out of the big connector at the brake booster. hope this might help someone Replies to this message: euphonium (Jul 03, 2008 9:42 am)

I have a white 94 Grand Marquis, the car ran perfect until it started with a light tremble between 35-45 mph.I changed the oil, oil filter, gas filter put new spark plugs nothing helped then i put new spark plug cables, and everything was alot better, but still a light tremble, it goes away when I step on the gas, but its coming back, it almost seems like its burning the cables too quickly, or I dont know maybe something with the transmission, I honestly dont recall when was the last time they changed the trans oil, i know its not as often as it is for the motor oil. dont know, but would like to;cause im FED UP with these mechanics that charged my mom $500 for changing I dont know what the heck. Replying to: knilgnissim (Jul 03, 2008 11:54 am) I have a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis. This is the first car I can remember owning where the steering wheel does not lock into position after parking. My understanding is that it used to have this feature, but it was eliminated. Anyone know why?
