High End Luxury Cars

Let's try to define this forum as being limited to luxury performance vehicles where the mainstream version in a typical configuration has an MSRP of at least $60k.
A luxury vehicle with a base price of $59k qualifies because it would typically be bought with some additional equipment, bringing the MSRP over $60k.
Vehicles like the E, 5, A6, M, or GS, even if available in certain versions over $60k, don't qualify because they are cars from companies that have higher end cars in their lineups.

Replying to: lexusguy (Jun 13, 2008 3:08 pm) Well, considering that those cars only see about 5 or 10 tanks of gas per owner before being sold (10 being a stretch), why would they? You should see how many M5s are coming back to BMW lots now. Read the forums. The guys/gals love the car, but they are just sick of filling it up all the time. And with gas prices headed the direction they are, it quickly becomes a fiscal nightmare to drive such cars. Rich people didn't get rich by throwing away money just because they can...

Replying to: lexusguy (Jun 13, 2008 6:31 pm) That was my reaction to it when I saw it at the car show. Most mpressive SUV from Toyota to date... yet a pathetically thirsty gas hog. Toyota is smart to keep the supply very limited... not too many folks would actually want one. By keeping it in short supply, it doesn't appear to be the sales loser it otherwise would be. And I do say "loser" from a sales perspective, not from a quality perspective, as it is a quality vehicle... just way too thirsty and expensive to sell in ANY large numbers, with SUV sales in the toilet the way they are. But overall, not my thing either. TM
