You are in the Sedans Forum. Your Hosts are pat & karens

What is this discussion about? Audi A8, BMW 7 Series, Jaguar XJ-Series, Lexus LS 460, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Volkswagen Phaeton, Maserati Quattroporte, Mercedes-Benz CL-Class, Sedan

Let's try to define this forum as being limited to luxury performance vehicles where the mainstream version in a typical configuration has an MSRP of at least $60k.

A luxury vehicle with a base price of $59k qualifies because it would typically be bought with some additional equipment, bringing the MSRP over $60k.

Vehicles like the E, 5, A6, M, or GS, even if available in certain versions over $60k, don't qualify because they are cars from companies that have higher end cars in their lineups.

Well where I come from, the way one buys a car is by doing the research and then the legwork which involves kicking the tires of all potential candidates.
I don't waste my time test-driving vehicles I wouldn't consider buying/leasing.
I would consider the new LS if its handling has improved, but only in its most basic, no frills form.
I don't know how you guys put up with that gated shifter. So inconvenient.

Hey, I'm just reporting the news, HP! by drfill

You can bash Lexus (or BMW), and that's fine, but be accurate, that's all I ask. Lexus still has work to do.

In spite of my recent HELMY award, I'll bash Lexus, just not as quickly as I'd bash a desperately flailing critic.

They're making the right moves, but misteps abound (IS350 tranny, soft SC, not producing the HPX, soft GS, general overproduction).

If you want to turn on a company under my wing, you'll release "The Beast", not me.

Allow me to congratulate you on making the coveted top 10 HELM list.
Tickets are already on Ebay anticipating your top 10 Tour.
Tough to make the list. What are there- 11 regular posters?

I noticed that while Mercedes, Audi, Porsche/VW, and Lexus made the awards list, BMW was missing.

Uh, oh . . . call NASA . . . I've discovered a black hole.

Very funny!
I have a feeling that just may reveal something about the list's creator.
Nahh! Must have been an innocent oversight.

I'm not gonna touch that one. I've been getting along just fine with oac, my fellow Californian. We share a West coast bond that is stronger than . . . well . . . unknown at this point.

Besides, I made the list, and now, thanks to oac, I've given myself a raise AND a summer bonus. So, THERE!

Only problem is . . . I can't make it next year . . . I likely won't be that "recent" a poster any more, and I'm sure not gonna topple those other guys. They're just too terrific and will deserve the award FOREVER. Oh well, I'll covet it while it lasts . . . and spend my bonus, of course.

Reason is that Howard doesn't think the 7 belongs in HELM so I had to leave it out, out of deference to the ultimate BMW fans... Can't have it both ways, I suppose

In spite of my recent HELMY award,....

Hmmmm ! That sounds kinda interesting... HELMY Award... except I cannot figure out what the Y in HELMY would represent...

Ahhh, I got it: High End Luxury Marque Yentas (HELMY)... apologies to our resident VW/Porsche officianado - Designman for his yentas coinage.
