The cap is on the overflow resevoir, not on the radiator itself.

I have a 2002 Grand Am that does the same thing. Delayed lights, A/C, radio, and control panel. Had it back to the dealer and of course they couldn't tell me why it was doing it or even what the "service vehicle soon light was for". So I emailed the Pontiac main office and they couldn't tell me either.

coolant leak in 2000 grand am by april51

I have a used 2000 one owner grand am. I have never had any engine problems with it, nor the transmission. Just recently this....After I have driven it and it sits I go out and coolant has leaked all the way off my carport. I looked under the car and it seemed not to be coming from the radiator. Could there be a hose or something loose? Is this expensive to fix? I almost have this car paid off and I can't go into debt for a new used car. The only other things that are wrong are these: the overhead light never would come on...the back drivers window won't come down..it would stick, then come down, now it stays up. The drivers window sometimes sticks, but after a few presses on the button it will go back up. My power seat used to go up until my long legged son shoved it back as far as it would go, now when I try to raise it all I hear is the sound of the power seat motor. Are these things going to be expensive to repair? I am a widow caring for an alzheimers mother, so I need my car in good running condition. How do I find the right repairman who will not take advantage of me? What kind of questions do I ask? Thank you

hi nickper -- i just did this operation on my son's 97 grand am and had the same feeling/fear. i followed the instructions in the owners manual and just pulled down firmly but gently, first on the driver's side and then on the passenger's side. it made a "thunk" noise but came off. i then replaced both light bulbs and put the cover back on by pushing it back up. it helps to take a flat tip screwdriver to get above the cover. good luck.

Believe it or not, it's true. Says so right in my owners manual. I thought it was pretty crazy myself, and I don't usually wait for the light to come on before getting my oil changed. It is apparently supposed to 'sense' when you need to change the oil based on how hard (or not?) you drive the vehicle. I say, with a new car, why rely on a dummy light? After all, it is a 'dummy' light, right?

Grand Am Rear Turn Signal Lights by dp5010

My 2000 Grand Am V6 SE has Rear Turn Signal problems. When the blinker started blinking too fast, I removed the rear tail light covers thinking I would have to replace blown bulbs. Turns out the bulbs are okay but the housing/slots the bulbs fit in have melted and deformed and I either loose the connection or the heat also deformed the base of the bulb.

Has anyone else experinced this problem. Dealer says he has never heard of this (yeah right!). Pontiac has refused to review the problem unless it comes from the dealer who wants $'s to look at it and diagnose.

Do I have to replace the bulb holder? What does that cost?
