Have a Pontiac Grand Am 1999 - 122k miles. The service engine light comes on occasionally .. then dashboard stops and power window stops as well.

Then after restarting or driving for a few minutes.. everything comes back on....

Decided to buy an OBD II scanner... after diagnostic got this codes....

P1665 GM EVAP Vent Valve Solenoid Control Circuit (1998)
P1676 GM EVAP Canister Purge Solenoid Control CKT

Any tips would be helpful

I think that may be something as simple as gas cap, either on crooked, not tight, or gasket leaking.

I know this is an old message, but did you resolve your problem? I have a '99 with a similar stalling problem. In my case "all" the dash lights and messages come on and you can hear a clicking from what I believe is the computer. About the 4th restart the engine will keep running.

Thanks

The signal flasher/harzard flasher are combined as one unit and is attached to the back of hazard flasher button. There is an unpublished recall for this problem which can be a fire hazard.I replaced mine on my own as my car was out of warranty. the part cost approximately $20.00. The new one after six months has statred the same noises. Installation is simple. Pop the trim ring around the ignition switch with a screwdriver and put the car in neutral(set parking brake) and pull the center dash panel off. The switch has a small wire harness and removes with 2 screws.

#1924 of 2588 '91 Grand Am 2.5 Firing Order by nikon101

Apr 16, 2005 (1:33 pm)

Hello,
I'm getting different spark plug firing order directions from publications. I have a '91 Grand Am, 2.5L, Vin "u" engine. My owner's manual says 1-3-4-2, and the GM Service manual says 1-4-3-2. Anybody know the correct order?
And, if I'm under the car, looking up at the coil, which way do the numbers go? Is 1 the bottom, 2 the next, etc?
 Thank you all,
 Paul

#1926 of 2588 Considering buying a Grand Am.... by justin13

Apr 21, 2005 (1:48 pm)

I am considering buying a used grand am for my wife for her birthday and was wondering if I could get some feedback (good and bad) or some links for my research. I am interested in inherent problems or recalls with this model. Any help is greatly appreciated. TIA

Well, you can start right here!!

Click on the Edmunds.com logo at the top and then the blue Used Cars tab. From there you can access editor and consumer reviews. If there is a specific model you are looking at, you can, from that same Edmunds.com home page, click on Tips & Advice and then Maintenance to look up recalls and other service information.

There is True Cost to Own infor and True Market Value, both of which should help you.
