many of these at auction, but none that are manuals. The autos are $10-11k. I'd have to guess that a stick would be $9500'ish? So if he purchased for under $13k, he did ok. Under 12 would be good.

having a bit of difficulty here. quattro? coupe or vert?
the only coupe I can find is AWD. Vert can be AWD or FWD.
let's see....
FWD vert = anywhere from 33-35k
AWD vert = $36k'ish
AWD coupe = no comparables... about $32k with 20k miles, so maybe $31?

Thanks! Sorry. Its an AWD coupe.
As far as the Elantra, he did 11,9 which included new brakes and new tires.

Mr Q...
Thanks for the feedback. I'll pass this along to her. I'm hoping she takes someone along with her during her car buying for support and to assist in evaluating any offers she is presented.
Thanks again

thanks qbrozen for your help! I was with my friend when she traded her 2003 GTI 1.8T w/ 80K & 5 speed stick last night. As I said, the car has been parked on the streets of brooklyn, queens, & manhattan pretty much all its life. Dented panels, scuffed bumpers, you get the picture. You pegged its value between $3000 & $3500. 3 days ago, her CEL came on (some $500 sensor). So between that and the significant reconditioning, we were offered $2500 & took it. The guy was upfront about her GTI in excellent shape at $3300.
So as usual, you were right on. I appreciate you help as always!

You know what? Stickguy said the same thing, but I just don't trust the car, especially to a friend.
