well, if BMW made stuff like that standard, what would they have left to sell in wildly overpriced option packages?

Take the X3 for example. A largish luxury SUV with limited rear visibility. But they make you pay extra for a backup camera, something standard in a base Honda CRV or Hyundai Santa Fe. I put homelink in that category too.

He says the dealers down there sell those CPO cars at their asking prices. He's actually buying a 2011 335i loaded w/ prem, sport, nav, cold weather, Step... Black/Black. Untitled exceutive demo w/ 7000 miles. The MSRP of thecar is north of $52K. He's buying it for $39K + TTL. I can hear the excitement in his voice over the phone!

How do you have access to sites like manheim and galves? I thought only dealerership people have access to this? Or is there a way to access those sites for the regular consumer?

I would really appreciate advice on the best way to sell and the current market valuation for my 2011 Honda Pilot. Vehicle is paid and I have title. Your opinions and knowledge is valued! Many many thanks!

Whatever number they come up with, keep in mind the 2012's are currently selling for $1,000+ under invoice without much negotiating. You might do better on sales price if you wait until the 2013's come out. Carmax may be your best bet on an outright sale. I assume you're not buying something new?

sebring95,
I am just thinning the herd. 4 cars = 3 drivers. My 16 year old son gets his junior DL in a couple of months. I am trying to keep insurance costs reasonable. Job issues are forcing my hand.

Is it harder to sell a car to a dealer without the prospect of a new sale for them?

I imagine a private party sale on newer full size SUV are not common?

What is the best way to sell 2011 Pilot?

Hoping to learn market price for dealer sale and private party sale. Thank you in advance for recommendations!

Respectfully,
Crusader Dad

You may want to work on cancelling your Sat radio subscription now, if you have it on automatic renewal with a credit card.
You sure would hate to sell it, then forget about the automatic renewal, if you are set up that way.
It could possibly help to keep it with a private sale.
When your son gets his DL, it will nice not to have to pick him up after football practice.
I just typed Lancaster and Crusader in the search box and saw football.
ND/Navy tomorrow at 9am.
One of my nephew's is on a college football team, got red shirted last year.
Hope he gets to play this year.

Depends on that damage, but probably around $28k at auction... putting you at maybe $27k-$27500 trade-in. That's probably about what you could expect if selling it to a dealer.

It is certainly your perogative to attempt selling privately. Problem is, not too many folks are comfortable buying a $30k vehicle through private transaction.
