Dealerships are "soft" for a reason my friend.
People are willing to buy SUV's but the price has to be right.
Especially on domestic SUV's.

Your truck should bring $16,000 on a trade.

Not only the repair history, but the fact that there is a very very limited market for SAAB's in general.
Few dealers and few retail buyers make for a weak market for the car.
One reason Honda's and Toyota's do well is because you have widespread interest in the product. Both at the dealer and customer level.

Private buyers don't pay the full amount w/ a check????

A dealer will probably be in the $15-16,000 range on this car.

Why the suddden urge for a Hybrid?

I have not actually gotten to that point of "negotiating" with them
but I've heard that auction commitment levels on these type SUV's
have taken a "nose dive," so I've kinda been expecting the worse-
case-scenario,.....possibly no more than $14-$15K,....but I have
no basis/facts for that.

I'm noticing lots of Explorers for sale, both '06/'07 and many are priced
in the $15-$20K range with less than 30,000 miles, however many
are 6 cylindar and I was hoping the 8 cylindar might bring in a
little more. On used SUV's dealers try to make as much as
$3-$5K per sale so that leaves a lot of room for their real buy-price
to be much lower at auction, thus trade-in will be impacted too.

My feeling is the Trade-In offer from a Dealer will be at/near what the
Auction Prices are at present and I know Dealership Lots are loaded
with "repos," therefore auction prices are likely cratering,....but I'm
just guessing.

All I'm looking for is some current advice based on something that
happened recently with someone else trading in a low mileage '07
V8 Ford Explorer "Eddie Bauer (4WD).

You are probably closer to $10k than $11k on a trade.

Can you say why you think this is so?

He's looking up Manheim auction numbers. Without seeing the vehicle, most need some reconditioning and people, myself included, overestimate the condition of their vehicle interior and exterior, tires, brakes,...
