A Porsche would make you extremely happy... but, eventually, it will make you cry....

It is still the greatest car I've ever owned... but, when my child was born, I knew it had to go... and, I was extremely lucky... Probably only spent around $2500-$3000 in the four years that I had it... and this was in the early '90s...

My budget would tolerate that.

My budget would not tolerate engine replacement, though.

Exactly... but, there are no guarantees.. That was a lot of money for me, then... Plus, $20K to buy the car in the first place... It was the possibilities that moved me to sell it..

I blame my wife....

I know that this isn't the right place to post this, but I have owned several Porsches. When I gave up D.E.'s and club racing, I was looking for a fun roadster. I was sure that I wanted a Boxster. I drove it and it was "OK", but I wasn't blown away. I decided to test drive the new Miata PRHT. Well....I bought it. Great car and very easy to own. I even put snows on it so I can drive it year round. (and I have other cars to drive)
I paid list price cause it was just out and in demand, but you can get 5k off on an '08 now.
No regrets here.......

For one thing, 911's are rarer.
The target demographic has more disposable income and the car benefits from decades of accolades and great press.

Sounds like a $10,000 car.

Good to know.

Hey, are you selling it?

Just kidding.

New PRHTs are now down to $22k or so, really not bad at all. That's with basic equipment, so they go up near $30k loaded.

I saw one used 2007 for $20k and it was loaded, that was a bargain. I almost jumped on it. It was the right color, trans, had leather seats with heaters, everything. I guess I just chickened out.

I've seen used 2006s as low as $12k or so, but most are $15k.

volvomax - just to get an idea, what to 2006 and 2007 Miata soft tops go for across the auction block?

I'm sure the hard tops are much higher, so what about those? They only came out in 2007 so it's possible not many have hit the auctions.

What do you think of the redesigned BMW Z4, which should be out this spring?
