I want to trade my 2006 GTO for 09 Acura RDX I have 34.5k miles, manual transmission with brand new clutch 18" wheels, silver with red interior Car's in good condition a couple of scratches that buffing didn't take out on the right door. I owe 18k on the car, how much will I lose when I trade it in? I was hoping not more than 3k to get rid of it? No accidents but I had both my side windows replaced due to attempted theft. Thanks

But no Porsche is reasonable to own, unless you're comfortable doing your own mechanical work. At the dealer, an oil change is $250 alone. On some of the Porsche forums, we get guys who want to buy one by the skin of their teeth and we tell them that they need to have a sizeable reserve fund for maintenance. There are some great deals to be had on new and used Boxsters right now, but if you have to add $5K for an extended warranty or $14-$20K for a blown engine, they're not really such great deals. If I were in your shoes, I'd try another Miata (I love them, but still don't fit quite right in the cabin) or wait for a redesigned Honda S2000 or the upcoming Nissan 370Z convertible. I think Japanese is the way to go. I wish Mazda would make an RX-8 roadster.

Replying to: longislander1 (Jan 14, 2009 9:22 am) Perhaps I've been lucky but I don't think I've spent $1200 in repairs in the 8 years I've had it, and keep in mind it was already 8 years old when I bought it. And I'm including a timing belt and water pump, which are maintenance, really. To put that in perspective, I've spent $8.33 per month on average on repairs. On a 16 year old vehicle. I doubt even a newer Miata will match that rate. |
