Just be careful - it almost sounds too good to be true.
If you pass let people here know, maybe someone else will be interested.

As an '05 Boxster S owner, I've been shocked by the abysmal resale value of some Porsche cars. There may be another factor at work here that goes beyond the weather and the economy. Some Porsche forums are buzzing about reports of low-mileage engine failures -- even among 987-series cars built from 2005 on. I've seen reports of failures as low as 6K miles and, from what I've read of those reports, owners whose cars are out of warranty can get stuck with engine replacement costs that can run from the teens to around $20K (sometimes as much as or more than the value of the car itself). One guy reported two engine failures on different Boxsters that he owned and chose not to go for a third. Some owners, such as myself, whose cars are nearing the end of the factory warranty, are trying to decide whether to buy an extended warranty that can cost several thousand dollars (beyond the already high original purchase prices for these cars). If all victims were appropriately compensated and other owners received a warranty extension, it might go a long way toward preserving resale value.

Like, it's been in a $12K accident that didn't show up on carfax. Or one of those bmw paint damaged cars--I almost bought a '99 or 2000 e39 that turned out to be that. Or the OD was replaced.
Or the owner is clueless. Or e39 wagons not popular in AZ? (???)
I still like the briefcase idea tho--even if you had to fill it with $10's or $20's to fill it up.....

Not to step on anyone's toes who might feel differently.. but, the E39 525i wasn't all that popular.. With just 184 hp to push it around, it wasn't exactly a speed demon...
Not that it wouldn't be a great car, but I see why it's valued that way...

I was thinking the same thing. An underpowered grocery getter with a handshaker? Folks aren't beating this guy's door down, regardless of how the select few enthusiasts feel about it.

Seems legit - took a look this weekend. No signs of paintwork, etc. Guy has all of the original paperwork, sticker. Beautiful car and it drove like new.
Judging by the guys house and other vehicles, I think he just wants to make it go away. It's been replaced by a E350 Merc, that according to him "they were giving them away" Good thing he still had space in his 4 car garage.
Too bad I was the second one there Hopefully the first interested party changes their mind/falls through.

This is a car that I'd normally be very interested in, and I live in the Phoenix area.
Sounds good -- hope it works out for you.
