Replying to: qbrozen (Dec 03, 2008 2:53 pm) his fleet. Bought them because he thought he was gonna save some big bucks on gas and maint. costs............ He sure regrets it now ! Terrible in the snow as well as scary to drive, $1000 brake jobs every 5000 miles, long dealer waits for parts and service etc.............. Hes going back to the bulletproof Chevy full size vans.

Local dealer in San Diego says my mint 2008 Civic EX auto sedan with 7500 miles is only worth $13500 but Edmunds TMV says $17500,KBB say $18115,NADA $18175, so what gives. Why the difference?

Replying to: johnxyz (Dec 03, 2008 9:33 am) Does this economy kill trade-ins/private sales by 25% or more then even 6 mos or 1 yr ago? (Not counting Fits, Prius', Smartcars or Civics)? Anyway - let me know what you think is a realistic trade-in as well as a private sale on my '00 Passat. Thanks. |

Replying to: tomsr1 (Dec 04, 2008 7:04 am) Looks to me like $15,000 is closer to the number. However, with the price of gas going down, these cars aren't retaining their value like they did.

Replying to: volvomax (Dec 04, 2008 7:38 am) Right now, Honda is offering low finance rates on 2009's which can make a 2008 harder to sell. |

Replying to: otto8 (Dec 03, 2008 11:54 pm) And why would there be a wait for parts, don't these essentially share most parts with the Civic? Hmmm... wait a sec... $1k brake jobs, long wait for parts, OH, now I get it, your buddy lives in Australia! Hey, that's what you get for buyin' one of them there foreign cars. Tell him that Holden makes an El Camino-like car.
