I'm in Central, MA 2005 Subaru Legacy GT Base Sedan 2.5 turbo 5spd manual 91,405 miles Atlantic Blue Pearl/ Blk Excellent condition, no accidents, one door ding about the size of a dime. Brakes replaced 1 yr ago. Tires half worn. What should I expect for a dealer trade in value?

Replying to: mlacombe (Nov 01, 2008 5:24 pm) CRV is probably worth $3,000 So, you should be close.

Replying to: houdini1 (Nov 02, 2008 7:06 pm) wholesale is anywhere from $27-29,000 Factor in the reconditioning and the CPO warranty and you shoud still have some wiggle room.

Replying to: volvomax (Nov 03, 2008 9:39 am) I cleaned, washed, waxed, and vaccumed my wifes car sunday. Then I went in this morning and offered them $6000 plus trade plus TTL. They RAISED the price to $8500 plus trade plus TTL. Oh well, its their car. I guess they want a homerun or nothing. We'll just keep looking. |

What is a fair value in these times for a 2004 Toyota Tacoma - with hitch / leer body colored cap (pass through window) and chrome nerf bars. Good original maroon/crimson paint, V6, never hit, pwr doors and windows. Sliding glass back window. I am considering trading for a Honda Element (for the extra seats) but dont really want to take on much additional debt....mileage 17,000 (its a third vehicle in the family)

Hi gang - I'm looking for advice from the used-car-value experts here. I'm about to trade an 04 Acura TSX handshaker. Car is in St Louis, 50K miles, good condition overall but with one big scratch across trunk lid, no nav. Car needs tires pretty bad, within a micron or so of the wear bars - however, it just passed inspection and I can get by until I trade. Let's assume new tires will cost me $600. So - two questions: One - Obviously, the car with new tires is worth more than with the old sneakers - but is it enough to offset the cost (in other words, would I likely get the $600 back)? Two - what about the trunk lid - should I have it sprayed or trade with scratch? Both these questions are about the "cost vs reward" of fixing up a car before trading it. Any overall thoughts about that?
