Ebay and internet prices on X3's and X5's seem dirt cheap to me, i guess even they cant escape current SUV market slump. 06 X5's with 25k miles listed for 26-27K? The V8 models are rated 13 city, 17 hwy, guess that explains everything. i have an 03 Jag x-type, 30k miles, metallic grey with black guts, non-sport to trade, but there isnt a thing in the world wrong with it, and it gets 22-23 around town and 29-30 on the hwy, AND it's paid for. I know the AWD feature will bring more $$$'s up north, but how far north would i have to drive to get top dollar? I am on the gulf coast....Thanks

So having a lowly Ford-of-Europe product as an ancestor makes it unworthy of your New York sensibilities?  As a matter of fact, the Ford Mondeo was the 2001 Car of the Year by Top Gear television magazine, the number one enthusiast program in the world, which we true enthusiasts are fortunate to receive via BBC. In 2005 the Ford Mondeo was rated "Excellent" in both front and side crash ratings by NCAP, the European counterpart to our NHTSA. The 2003 Jaguar X-type, as tested by our own NHTSA, was rated 4 out of 5 stars in both front and side crash ratings, equal to the Mercedes C-Class of the same year. The Jaguar does share the platform and some components with the Mondeo, and proudly so. But it was built by Jaguar in a Jaguar factory in Liverpool. It offers more interior room and trunk volume than a BMW 3 series or a Mercedes C class, and with comparable performance. It is true that the X-type did not meet sales expectations in the US, but in Europe, with a diesel option it was quite a sales success. It is a little on the heavy side, but that's the trade-off for the AWD system. Comparing a Jaguar with a Subaru, while a reliable little car, is like comparing Sandra Bullock to Sandra Bernhard. The only AWD cars that come close to what this car offers are the BMW 3 series(X) or a Mercedes C Class(4matic). Both are more expensive and don't offer the room or fuel economy of the X-type. People look down their noses at Ford products, a company that practically invented the American auto industry, at a time when I can produce a 2001 Ford Explorer(4.0 v6) still on the road with 361,000 miles on the original engine and transmission. As far as "run it into the ground", without knowing what i paid for the Jag and what its current market value is, you can't possibly make that statement. Remember, high mpg cars right now are all the rage, and for a car that offers this level of luxury and AWD performance AND consistently produces 22-23 mpg in town and 30 on the highway, who knows what it might bring. I might just keep it. A wholesaler/apprasiers opinion is welcome

I'm looking into getting a used SUV as a second car and so have been doing research to identify good, reliable vehicles that are great buys in the used car market. So after reviewing consumer reports, looking at online ads, and driving a couple of vehicles, I identified the Mitsu Endeavor as an outstanding buy. So, here in Denver, there are several similar examples of Endeavors, and I was hoping to get an idea from the experts here on what a realistic purchase price may be. From on-line ads, there are at least a dozen of the following, some from a Mitsibushi dealer and some not, but from what I can tell, there is no certified used program anyway. 2007-2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor LS AWD 11-14k miles The LS model is the base model, without any goodies such as leather, power seats or a sunroof. I looked at several of these, and the ones I looked at appear to be in good condition, commensurate with the low miles. For the ones with carfax available, they all check out OK, unless being a previous rental car is a significant concern (I figured with a clean carfax, and with several years/miles of warranty left, that it would be OK). Asking prices on these range from $13.9k to $17.9k. KBB trade seems to be around $11k for an '07; '08's are not listed yet. I thought around $13k for an '07 and $14k for an '08 would be a realistic, albeit a bit aggressive, offer. Thoughts? Thanks! |

i have a 2006 Acura TSX, this is my first lease, and it is coming to an end in december. the residual value and agreed-upon purchase price for end of the lease is $18,243. i looked at my account online today and its says that the payoff amount as of today is $18,780. when i looked ahead to the payoff amount at the end of the lease in mid-december, the payoff amount is $19,111. so i'm confused, why would the payoff amount increase toward the end of the lease? and why would it be more than the amount on the lease contract? am i just not understanding lease jargon? any insight would be appreciated. |
