Looking at trading this in but values from KBB to Edmunds are very different. Dealer has offered mid KBB of $9500. Tells me it's correct as KBB is used on west coast and Edmunds is not. Dealer commented it was a clean car and taken care of.

Looking at moving up to a pre-owned Subaru Legacy GT

Legacy GT Sedan 2008
Engine: 2.5 liter, 4 cylinder, manual, Turbo
Driveline: AWD
Mileage: 3599
Color: exterior: Black Interior: off black leather
Condition: Clean, hard water spots on the front fenders and hood. Dealer agrees to have car buffed out.
Tires Show small wear on edges indicating someone probably drove it hard for some of the miles

They have offered this vehicle for 23,888 but want to roll the difference of my lease buyout of $1000 over raising the price to $24,888. Not sure if this is a good deal either as no blue book out on this car yet. Invoice is around $27,500.

Any thoughts are appreciated and thanks for all your service to everyone on the blog, forum, group.

I think they are right on the money on the trade.
If it was an auto it would probably be worth more.

Price for the 08 is pretty good.
Avg auction for an auto is between $22500-23,000

What are the details on your lease? How many months left? How much per month is the payment? Are you over the miles?

Thanks volvomax for the reassurance. I am working with the Internet sales manager and were dealing wholesale to wholesale but was sure what price the Legacy fell into.

Can you comment at all though on the response that the west coast uses KBB values and nothing else. More or less just looking for info on that for future reference.

Thanks again....looks like it's time to get the Legacy.

6 months left on my lease. Miles are very close could end up possibly a thousand or two over depending on what I decide to do this summer. Payment is $269. a month and the residual is around $8700. I was off on my buyout it's $10,400 so the shortfall is $900.

West Coast references KBB, but doesn't really use it's values.
At least, not on the trade in side.
Black book and Manheim auction figures are what is used.
In your case, Manheim and KBB agreed.
Doesn't happen often.

well, if you really want out of the car now, $900 isn't that bad of a penalty.
