Thanks and thanks to volvomax as well. Don't think I'm going to go this route because the mileage rating is about the same as my Element for city, and that's where I'm looking for savings. We have a minivan so I don't need 2 family type vehicles. From the value on the Element, I should be able to trade into something more compact/efficient for a similar payment and save $80-$100 per month in gas. Car shopping used to be a lot more fun. Oh well. Thanks again.

I said it before and I'll say it again.
It's a lot of brain damage to save $100/mo.

Groundbreaking news coming soon........"I had to sell my Yukon 'cause of gas prices!.....I had to finance $48,000 to buy a CRV, but now i'm saving $100/month in gas"
Thats old news!
We see it every day.
Thus the reason I'm still driving my Pilot. I figure 20 mpg isn't THAT bad and the gas savings will never ever come close to covering what I would lose trading it in, lol. Good thing I love my SUV!!!

I understand, and I'm considering that as well. We're considering it since we're not upside down, and there are still a little over 2 years left on the Honda loan (bought it used), and the maintenance will increase during that time with the miles. If trading it meant taking a loss, that would be a different story. Unfortunately, most of the driving my Honda does is 16-18 mpg, and I'm not a leadfoot, so that is why we're looking into it. It would only make sense to me if I can get to 25+ mpg in city driving. I do appreciate your honesty though. Thanks.

Subies don't get the best mpg since they are AWD. I have one and would love to sell it but I don't have enough equity to get into something that I would like for the same payment. That being said, I love my Legacy GT and would really hate to sell it.

I know what you mean - I really like the Element, but since I have the equity and don't need 2 "utility" type vehicles (other one is a minivan), we're looking at the savings aspect, but I need to be around 25 mpg city to make any sense, so I'm looking at subcompacts and compacts.
