2006 Subaru Forester X 4-cyl/manual AWD 45k miles
Dealer is offering $13k, they are looking at a new 08 Forester.

If I understand, they might be "losing" what--$6K on a $20K when-new vehicle they've put 45K miles on in 2 years? I'm too lazy to do the math, but I doubt they could even lease one for that, putting on all those miles.

What's the price on the new 08 Forester?

I think the miles make this one almost untradeable.
You will probably get hit under $10 grand, maybe $8000

True value for high mileage car by maxima_popo

Hi,
I am trading my 03 Nissan Maxima for another car. According to KBB and Nada it is worht more than what we have been offered for trade. But according to the dealer KBB is not very accurate with high mileage vehicles. I tend to agree after experimenting with the mileage number. My car has 100k miles on it. If I change the mileage to 200k miles the value only drops by about 1K. If I increase to 300k another 1k. That doesn't seem realistic.
The dealer has offered me $7800, which I feel is good considering I have been trying to sell for 2 months now at $8700. But he is making up for it with a 9.5% interest rate.

Any thoughts?

2005 Tundra Crew Cab Limited 4x4 by benderofbows

A co-worker has asked me for some advice on a truck he is looking to buy. Of course, I know of no better place to seek a real value than this forum! Here's the link to the actual vehicle; it seems a little high, but it is certified. What should be the rock-bottom price for this vehicle at this NC dealer?

It's the only 2005 Tundra they have in stock, and the one listed on the "Preowned Specials" page.

I'm not an expert, but have been watching the market on Tundras closely for the last month or so because mine just came off lease. I usually sell my leases and try to make a buck on them but this was the first time I couldn't do it. The market on Tundras isn't strong (nor any used truck really). I still bought out the lease because it was a fair deal and the truck works for me. From what I've seen, this one isn't a horrible price. The fact that it's a limited makes it more desirable even though the features on a limited are minimal over an SR5. Particularly in this case because it doesn't even have leather which typically was the biggest reason to upgrade to a limited (leather was an option only on limiteds). A very similar SR5 (like mine) would probably fetch closer to $21,000 in the real world. Maybe less with the high miles. I couldn't get $23,000 for mine on a private party sale with only 27k miles on the clock. I wouldn't get too hung up on this one because there are gobs of these coming off lease and many are getting turned in. Toyota was practically giving away '05/'06 Tundras on lease deals and there should be plenty of inventory around on the dealer lots.

They had huge rebates on the '07's a month or so ago, not sure if they're still out there or not but you could get a brand new crew-max 4x4 in the $26,000 range. Makes a $24,000 truck with 60k miles look like a bum deal.

It has been my experience that with higher mileage vehicles the dealers use the auction sheets. Also, it is hard to really know what the offer truly is w/o knowing how much money they are making on the other end. Unless you have bad credit, no one should be paying 9.5%. That is silly.

I you like the trade number, then just get financing through your own bank, credit union, or online lender and pay the dealer with a check from one of them.

I have a similar car. Mine is dark blue and an auto. However, mine has 27,000 miles on it. About a month ago a Subaru dealer gave me a quote of 15,000 over the phone. I ended up not trading the car because I didn't have enough equity to buy anything nice and lower my payments.
