Prob a car you should sell yourself.
Only $8000 from a dealer.
Prob $10-12000 easy private party.
The color is a drawback, but the miles are great.

Max, how much is the color a drawback, dollarwise? When running numbers using Edmunds, color (any color) never varies the value by much at all - are their figures disconnected from reality?

Hello. I was hoping you could help me out on the real world trade on this, since I have gotten a couple quotes from dealers and was really disappointed in what they offered. I am not sure if they are low-balling me, or if I have just over estimated the value.

Suggested Information for posting trade-in values:
Location: Buffalo, NY
Year/Make/Model: 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX Limited
Body Style: 4 door
Engine: 4 cyl turbo, 5 speed manual
Driveline: AWD
Mileage: 7600
Color: Grey Metallic exterior, grey interior
Major Options: Leather, heated seats, sunroof, climate control, cruise, 6 disc CD, spoiler, 17" rims (factory)
Condition:
Interior and exterior are mint. No scratches, blemishes, dents, etc
Tires - 7500 miles on tires
  Brakes
Maintenance: All scheduled maintenance done by dealer, receipts available
Other: No other prior problems, no accidents, etc.

The online calculators have given me trade in values from between 23,000 and 24,000. However, the dealers I have spoken to only want to offer between 18,500 and 20,000. I know the online sites aren't always totally accurate, but that seems to be a big discrepancy. I know a few things work against me too. First year depreciation is big, and Subaru released a new body style.

Thanks for your help!

I think it is a given that Edmunds numbers are disconnected from reality.

However, some colors, like dark green, are pretty much sale proof these days.
If the car was white or beige, it would be far easier to sell.
the dollar amount is open to debate.
Soemtimes its a few hundred, sometimes its over a thousand.

Avg on Manheim is about $20,000.
Now, those were factory cars, probably sold on MSO's.

So, the range you are being quoted isn't unreasonable.

Not much to go on for the Caddy.
Figure $20-23,000 trade in

G35 between $18-19,000
